TLPC TOURISM 2020 PROGRESS

Under the 2020 National Tourism Industry Potential, Destination NSW tourism industry’s target is to increase annual overnight visitor expenditure to $36.6 billion by 2020. Currently, TLPC spend (YE Dec 2014) is $4.669 billion or 57% of it’s target of $8.186 billion. Growth has continued to increase and is anticipated to gather further momentum in 2015 and beyond. An improving global economy, weakening Australian dollar, and realisation of increased investment will assist our Tourism 2020 goal.

 
 

TLPC WEBSITE UPGRADE WITH 2015-2016 PARTNERS

TLPC redeveloped website was launched last October. To keep it fresh, further enhancements will be added later this month including an interactive map on the front page, easier navigation and prominent positioning for your Legendary Deals and a new menu item highlighting transport options along the route.

TLPC in market:
Sydney Weekender Social Media promotion was highly successful attracting 8230 views on the Competition Entry page of TLPC website.
TLPC Take a Breath of Fresh Air Wotif Campaign stage 2 commenced 9 June for two weeks featuring over 50 accommodation deals and offers. Wotif have reported an increase in bookings from this time last year. It was also a great way to get the TLPC brand out to 1.5 million subscribers.

RACQ magazine journo Deb Eccleston travelled TLPC at the end of June compiling an ‘animal/wildlife' focused itinerary.
Channel 10’s Off Road Adventure Show filmed two shows of Byron and Northern Rivers Hinterland going to air early July.
Carla Grossetti travelled TLPC for an Out and About with Kids feature on the Mid North Coast section of TLPC.
Canadian cyclist Rudy Pospisil will be cycling TLPC in September/October filming a documentary for international distribution, and national and international media interviews.
YHA Australia has confirmed Emma Fehon (Instagramer) and Air New Zealand Ambassador and creator of international travel blog Completely Wanderlust will travel TLPC in March 2016.

WILD ABOUT WHALES

It’s that time of year again when the whales are travelling The Legendary Pacific Coast. Wild About Whales is a key coastal visitation campaign for the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service. INTERNATIONAL CAMPAIGNS AND ATE

ATE was a great success with TLPC delegates collectively having over 200 appointments. TLPC in partnership with DNSW also hosted an afternoon tea prepared by Nambucca Valley indigenous chef and TV personality from Wild Kitchen Clayton Donovan.
TLPC Expedia NZ campaign with Destination NSW is now in market.
TLPC Flight Centre UK campaign is leveraging off and extending the significant buzz generated from Destination NSW’s recent Suitcase Party in London.
TLPC/STA Travel campaign promoting surfing, working holidays, road-trips and adventure via video and poster displays across 51 STA retail stores in the UK, digital advertising, blog and social media posts and newsletters to 1.8 million STA travel subscribers.
Australia’s Best Drives collaboration between US based tour wholesaler, About Australia; Australia’s Great Southern Touring, TLPC and Sydney-Melbourne Touring Route launched Stage two. Stage one has already delivered more than 392 room nights with a combined value of $308,000 after a one week Australia’s Best Drives Roadshow throughout New Mexico, Arizona and Texas.

 
 

TOURISM AWARDS & BYRON TOURISM SYMPOSIUM

The North Coast Tourism Awards nominations are now open. Submissions close 5pm 13 July, 5pm. To enter go to www.ncdn.com.au/tourism-awards. The Gala Awards Night will be held 15 August in the Byron Shire at Byron at Byron Resort and Spa. To coincide with the Awards, this year the Byron Tourism Symposium will commence the day before on 14 August starting 1pm.
