This issue of ‘TerraNotes is reflective of the way in which Emterra is involved with our various communities in such rich and meaningful ways that go beyond our core business of collecting and processing waste resources and marketing commodities.
In fact, as I look through the selection of Emterra stories we’ve assembled for you, what occurs to me is how much we make connections among people, organizations and industries. These connections focus on improving our use and reuse of resources, the value and utility of products and packaging, and contributing to the practical applications of the “take-make-return” circular economy. Nowhere is that more evident than in the item that describes our partnership with two consumer products brand owners, Keurig Green Mountain and Tim Horton’s. In both cases, these brand owners came to Emterra to work with them to test and identify critical technical solutions to the challenge of recovery and recyclability so
that they can further achieve sustainable outcomes in the emerging circular economy framework while bolstering commercial success.
At Emterra, we see this role as a technical and thoughtful partner in designing new packaging and developing technical capabilities to collect, process and market resources as a key component of our strategic imperatives for 2017 and beyond. We are able to partner in such projects because of our network of integrated resource recovery infrastructure and human capital. And we are committed to this new role for Emterra because the team here, including Vivian, Paulina and I, believe that social, environmental and economic priorities are not mutually exclusive in a circular economy world. We’ll be talking more about these priorities in the future. We want to take this opportunity to thank our staff for their
support and great contributions and our customers for having faith in Emterra as a service provider. We wish you a glorious summer and, as always, we look forward to your questions and comments. Best wishes,

One of our Community Care (TM) programs is called ‘Make Your Contribution at the Curb (TM),' and this past month, under this program, we surpassed a quarter of a million dollars in donations to local health care in two Emterra service communities.
Emterra Works with Producers to Develop Sustainable Packaging
It’s common knowledge among consumer goods manufacturers and brand owners these days that using resources once and then discarding them is no longer economically, environmentally or socially acceptable. Players in the consumer goods chain including retailers and consumers are looking for more responsible resource utilization and upcycling of waste resources. For the last several years, Emterra Group has been working in partnerships with two brand owners, Keurig Green Mountain and Tim Horton’s, and other organizations to find solutions to recycling challenges presented by hard-to-recycle packaging.
