THIS GIRL CAN
This month EV have joined as a supporter of VicHealth's THIS GIRL CAN program.
With 79% female membership, EV is well and truly aligned with the objectives of the program which is all about empowering Victorian women to enjoy being active without worrying about judgement, gender stereotypes or skill level.

VicHealth is encouraging women to visit the This Girl Can website and share their stories about how they get motivated, what kind of activities they enjoy, and the moments where they’ve thought “I don’t give a damn – I’m doing it anyway!” 

CITY OF CASEY EQUESTRIAN WORKSHOP
The City of Casey is conducting an Equestrian Workshop on 12 April, and I am honoured to be featured as the guest speaker. The workshop is an opportunity to network, learn and share insights with other horse enthusiasts while informing Council about how it an continue to develop equestrian within the municipality.

EV advocates and supports the development of appropriate equestrian industry facilities. We are proud to have participated in meetings with both HRCAV and PCAV, to explore how the associations can work together for the common good of all Equestrian sport in Victoria.

P.S.I. Dressage and Jumping with the Stars

PSI Dressage & Jumping with the Stars (DJWTS) hosted the Australian Young Dressage Horse Championships from 22-25 March in Werribee, alongside the Young Dressage Pony, Young Jumping Horse and Young Eventing Horse classes, and for the first time a Led Class event.

DJWTS always attracts a well-respected panel of judges, riders and four-legged stars and this year was no exception with an international ground jury and horses and riders from all corners of Australia in attendance.

UPCOMING MAJOR EVENT

Our event is gearing up for another great competition over the June Queen’s Birthday weekend. The event could not run without the amazing support that we get from volunteers. If you are able to help with this year’s event please fill out a volunteer form by clicking on the button below.

Eventing Levy

The investment in safety has seen approximately $78,000 spent by the Victorian Eventing Trust since last February on updating our cross country fences.
No committee has had to raise funds for frangible devices/mimms as they have all been supplied through rider contributions to the Trust. As well as this the Trust has also contributed to seminars and helped Officials needing to travel for upgrading. Hopefully, we have stocked up enough on frangible devices for the next two years so by the end of the year we will be able to do another distribution to the Organising Committees to help with other aspects of their events.

We held a great safety seminar at Werribee in February thanks to Roger Kane & Ewan Kellett for sharing their expertise, Judy Croagh for organising and all the participants for attending.

Qualifications

It is the riders’ responsibility when entering an event to make sure they are registered & qualified. In 2018 the rules changed for 105 to say that you need 3 x 95 mers as a combination in order to enter an EvA105, (If you have 15 mers at 105 or above you can enter a horse without this requirement). Also, we still have horses entered without registration numbers … all horses competing 95 or above must be registered. FEI registration is due at the start of the calendar year.

We are all gearing up and getting very excited about the upcoming Masters Games. This year’s event is also a ‘PINK SPORTS DAY' and we are proudly supporting Breast Cancer Network of Australia. $1.00 from every class entry will be donated to BCNA.

Horseware Australia Victorian Interschool Equestrian State Championships finishes on high note

The 2018 Horseware Australia Victorian Interschool Equestrian State Championships concluded successfully last week at Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre.

More than 500 school students from 172 schools competed on 640 horses in dressage, show jumping, combined training, show horse, handy mount and novelty classes.

They also have moral obligations in relation to establishing standards of appropriate member behaviour and to provide safe, respectful and appropriate sporting environments for their activities to occur.

Equestrian Australia is a service organisation for our sport, our shareholders and our members. In response to feedback from members, EA and Zoetis have mutually agreed to end the sponsorship agreement with immediate effect.
