Asda Foundation ‘Bringing Communities Back Together’ scheme

This is of particular interest to community groups based in Colindale.

The Asda Foundation has launched phase one of its ‘Bringing Communities Back Together’ scheme. Charities, not-for-profit companies, CICs and unincorporated clubs and associations may apply for one grant of up to £1,000.

Working with older people?
Funding from The Wolfson Foundation

Grants of between £15,000 and £75,000 are available to charitable organisations which provide care and services for older people, particularly if they have a neurodegenerative condition or are isolated.

You can also apply for funding for new build, refurbishment or equipment projects which aim to provide increased access to services for new and existing users, improve the quality and range of services, and improve the financial stability of the organisation.

Note: Match funding is required for projects costing more than £50,000. 

Closing date: Thursday 1 July

 

Funding to Support Vulnerable Young Migrants (UK)

Not for profit organisations and private law firms working with vulnerable young migrants can apply for grants of up to £30,000. Grants will enable the organisation to undertake strategic legal work to benefit young migrants (under the age of 25) living in poverty who face significant disadvantage or discrimination in connection with their (or their parents') migration status.

Applicants should note that the average grant size is around £12,000. The funding is being made available through the Strategic Legal Fund (SLF) for Vulnerable Young Migrants.

Funding for Black-led charities and social enterprises working in communities across the UK

Apply for a grant package of £5,000 or £12,500 to help them:

  • Get better informed about their options (moving to new methods of delivery) post-COVID19.
  • Develop new enterprising activities and earned income strategies.
  • Test the viability of specific propositions.
  • Develop clear implementable action plans for such activity.

Deadline: Friday 25 June, 5pm

 

Join London's first Interfaith Fun Run

Taking place on 30th August at StoneX Park, Barnet this family-friendly event is about having fun, challenging yourself and raising money for London’s (Barnet's!) amazing charities.

We know how vital grassroots charities are and, with the support of Maccabi GB and the Greater London Lieutenancy, this Interfaith Fun Run is a great fundraising opportunity – as well as a platform to make sure your cause is seen and heard.

As well as a 1k, a 5k and a 10k untimed Fun Run there will be an afternoon of performances, games, activities for families and food!

icandance, a charity based in High Barnet, uses dance to connect, celebrate and support children and young people with disabilities. 

They are currently recruiting a new Chair of Trustees to join their vibrant community and help them to build inclusive practice.

This week has seen a series of activities and initiatives to support and raise awareness of the hundreds and thousands of small charities that, every day, make a huge difference to vulnerable communities right across the UK and the rest of the world.

There are still two more events on Friday 18th and Saturday 19th June, and their website has loads of useful information for all year round!

Stories Not Status

New Citizens’ Gateway (formerly Barnet Refugee Service) is celebrating Refugee Week with an online event where members of our community will share their stories.

They would like to invite all from the Barnet VCFS to their online celebration of creativity and culture, during which clients and volunteers will share stories of their experiences and hopes for the future.

The event will feature a packed schedule of inspirational talks, art, and singing from renowned Palestinian artist, Nancy Hawa.

Want to make the most of your volunteers? Join Barnet Together partners Volunteering Barnet & Young Barnet Foundation and help get your organisation 'Volunteer Ready'!

This workshop will support your organisation with managing a vital volunteer base.

Discover Barnet Presents... Summer Festival 2021

Discover Barnet Presents is bringing a summer to Barnet like no other - and everyone is invited!

The summer festival’s packed programme features open air cinema and major sports screenings, community carnivals, live music, artisan food markets, open air theatre, street performers, and activities for the whole family. The majority of the programme's events and activities are free to attend.

Want to volunteer at an event? Want to perform? Want to trade at an event? The council is seeking local individuals, organisations or businesses who want to get involved in the programme. Register your interest.

Sign up to Barnet’s voluntary sector Manifesto

Barnet Together is calling for community, voluntary and faith groups as well as statutory organisations and businesses operating in the borough of Barnet, to sign up to the Barnet Voluntary Sector Manifesto.

The aim of the Manifesto is to create better understanding and deeper cross-sector collaboration between organisations working within Barnet. By signing up to the Manifesto, groups and service providers agree to adhere to the values within the document. 

If you are a representative of a group, service provider or business based in or serving Barnet, then you can sign up to the Barnet Voluntary Manifesto.
