Welcome New PBCC Board Members, Joanne, Madelyn and Jennifer!
Joanne Grossi, Southeast Vice President
Joanne Grossi, currently serving as Pennsylvania President of the AARP, brings decades of experience in healthcare administration to the PBCC. She is a true champion for women’s health efforts in Pennsylvania and across the nation. Joanne most recently served as Regional Director of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for Region III. She has also worked in the administration of Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell as Deputy Secretary of Health and later as the first-ever Director of Women’s Services. Joanne is a longtime advocate for women with breast cancer.
Madelyn Rodriguez, Grassroots Partner Representative
When Madelyn Rodriguez was a teenager, she lost her mother to breast cancer. Ever since, it has been her mission to make a difference in the lives of other women battling this disease. As Director of Multicultural Affairs at Bloomsburg University, Maddy organizes the annual Breast Cancer Walk which has raised nearly $100,000 for the PBCC’s programs and services. Maddy was also recently honored at the Coalition’s Pink Party as the 2016 Shining Light Award winner for her outstanding commitment to the cause.
Jennifer Sands, Corporate Grassroots Partner Representative
Jennifer Sands will represent Weis Markets, Inc., a dedicated corporate Grassroots Partner, on the Coalition board. Weis has contributed nearly $75,000 toward the PBCC’s goal of finding a cure for breast cancer now… so our daughters won’t have to. Weis Markets is a sponsor of the PA Breast Cancer Coalition’s annual Conference held every October in Harrisburg, contributing $20,000 in 2016 alone. The company also sells pink water bottles and a special Strawberry Cheesecake flavored store ice cream each year with proceeds coming to the PBCC.
