Thanks for coming out to our season finale! At the Western Weekend Hootenanny, Point Reyes Children's Choir and West Marin Choir joined forces to sing for a packed Toby's barn, warming up the crowd for the barn dance. The Hootenanny was a community-wide collaboration and the beginning of an annual tradition! Hello Music Friends! Whether you're a fan of music, a supporter of music education or someone who just loves to sing, we've got something for you. First is the Point Reyes Hike & Sing on July 15, a daylong outdoor immersion with Tim Weed who will teach the songs of Point Reyes and Tomales Bay. After that in August, West Marin Choir starts up, and new singers are welcome to join. Then in September the Point Reyes Children's Choir begins its after-school sessions on Thursdays. We're excited to share two new videos of our children's programs along with a campaign to launch the Young Musicians Program into its second year. There's magic happening inside the classroom with our K-1 program and after school with the Point Reyes Children's Choir, and these videos will give you a glimpse. Please enjoy! Happy Summer! Point Reyes Hike & Sing Immerse into the sounds and songs of West Marin at this outdoor Point Reyes singing tour with musician and naturalist Tim Weed. Take a leisurely group walk on Bear Valley Trail, stopping along the way to sing to the creek and the wildlife under a magnificent canopy of trees. Our destination, Divide Meadow, is a breathtaking spot tucked in the Douglas Fir forest where we'll stop for lunch and singing. The participatory singing circle will feature music connected to Point Reyes and Tomales Bay. All voices and all ages welcome. The 3-mile round trip hike is on easy, flat terrain. Pack a bag lunch, layers for variable weather, a shade hat and water. Meet at Bear Valley Visitor's Center. Restrooms are available there and during the hike at Divide Meadow. We're raising money to launch another year of the Young Musicians Program starting this fall after a phenomenal first year. Donations support the Point Reyes Children's Choir and the Music-in-the-School Program, which you can see in action in the brand new videos below. Sponsor one child for $300 for a semester or $600 for the year. Become a Young Musicians Supporter for $50 or a Young Musicians Friend for $100. Donations can be made online or by sending a check to Sound Orchard, ATTN: Young Musicians Program, PO Box 722, Point Reyes Station, CA 94956. West Marin Choir Indian Summer Session with Tim Weed |
