Exquisite Exhibit: Parlour Games from the Studio Artist Program

Curator Joey Orr presents Exquisite Exhibit: Parlour Games from the Studio Artist Program opening in conjunction with ART PARTY, and on view through October 11. Orr has invited 21 artists from the last decade of The Contemporary’s Studio Artist Program—some of whom had studios years ago and some of whom have just recently moved in—to collaborate on seven unique “exquisite corpse” collaborative artworks. The “exquisite corpse” was a parlour game taken up by the Surrealists in which three artists collaborated on a portrait or drawing without being aware of what came before or after their respective contributions.

Participating artists include: Steven L. Anderson | Laura Bell | Paul Stephen Benjamin | Lillian Blades | Jonathan Bouknight | Craig Dongoski | Craig Drennen | Sarah Emerson | Matt Haffner | Mark Leibert | Eric Mack | Faith McClure | Michi Meko | Jiha Moon | Joe Peragine | Michael David Murphy | Ben Roosevelt | Ann Rowles | Dayna Thacker | Gregor Turk | Marcia Vaitsman

PLAY THE PARLOUR "GAME" | 7-10PM

Artists' names will be concealed on the seven walls until 10pm. Use your ART PARTY program ballot to guess which artists worked together on each wall! The guest with the highest number of correct answers will receive a special edition Exquisite Exhibit box set. Artists' names will be revealed at 10pm.
