Principal's Message Dear Families, This week we acknowledge ‘Refugee Week’. Many people become refugees through no fault of their own. They are often forced to leave their homes, usually due to conflict and violence, or from natural disasters. This week reminds us of our humanitarian obligation to look out for, and support, these people. One of the best books I have read is Ahn Do’s “The Happiest Refugee”. It gave me insight into what refugees often experience and how they must work harder than most to experience success. I highly recommend the book. Our students will be learning about refugees this week, so I encourage you to talk to your child at the dinner table about what they have learnt. Lunch Orders - Parents please take note that the lunch order menu from Fare Enough has been modified. There are a number of items currently unavailable. PLEASE only order the items that are listed on the menu in this newsletter. End of Term 2 - Term 2 will conclude at 2:15pm on Friday 26th June and students return to school on Monday 13th July. Online Payment System - Currently we (mainly our IT guru Brenton) are working with a company in Melbourne to install a program where parents can order and pay for uniforms and special lunches, donate to Project Compassion, pay for special events such as Casual Clothes Days and Father’s Day Breakfast etc all on line. The link for the program will be on our app, our website and PAM (Parent Access Module). We hope to have the program up and running at the beginning of Term 3. Reports - Student reports will released via the Parent Access Module (PAM) on Thursday 25th June at 3pm. Due to COVID regulations we will not be printing off copies of reports. School Board AGM - The St John’s School Board Annual General Meeting will be held 28th July. This will be a non voting meeting as all members are staying on for another year. Uniform - Just a reminder that students are wxpected to wear black polishable shoes and green socks (except on sports days where white socks without any branding are to be worn). Enrolments - Enrolments are coming in steadily. If you would like to enrol a sibling, or know of someone who would like to come to our great school, please contact Andrea or myself for an Enrolment form or to organise an After Hours tour. Media Permissions - We are currently updating all media permissions. Thank you to the families who have completed the form. If you haven't already completed the form on PAM regarding this, please take time to do so as soon as possible. Thank you to the Hill family for the flowers. It was a lovely surprise this morning. Have a great week, Libby St John's acknowledges the Taungurung People as the traditional custodians of the land on which we work, play and live. Calendar of Events
Religious Education We pray: Open our ears: to hear what you are saying to us today. Open our eyes: to see where Jesus’ healing love is needed in our world. Open our hands: to do your work and help where help is needed. Open our lips: to bring comfort, joy, and laughter to your people. Open our minds: to hear new truths about how you work in our world. Open our hearts: to you, our neighbors, and ourselves as you love us. Fill our minds that we may hear your wisdom. Touch our lips that we may speak your truth. Hold our hearts that we may follow you.
