Recounts

As part of their Splash theme, the year 1 classes enjoyed an excursion to Burswood Lakes to observe flora and fauna in a natural lake environment. The following are some student recounts.

Joshua On Friday, year 1.1 and 1.2 came to the Burswood Lakes.  We walked to Burswood Lakes.  On the way we saw a dead duck.  Jaiden’s dad wrote mermaids on the worksheet, it was funny.  We stayed in the gazebo.  We read a book about lakes.

Saiish On Friday 6th November we went on an excursion to Burswood Lakes.  The year 1 classes, parent helpers and year 1 teachers came too.  We went at 8:45am and went back at 11:00am.  We went there because our theme this term was water.  We saw ducks, algae and a raven, they are cool.  I liked the birds because they were so amazing!  We played in the playground but it rained so we went in a gazebo.

Joel Today year 1 went to Burswood Lakes because we were learning about water. It was a long walk to get to Burswood Lakes. First we found a gazebo so we put our bags or lunch boxes under the gazebo. We saw moorhens and we learnt a lot. It was fun!

Charlize Today we went to Burswood Lakes to discover the lake and we also saw a dead duck. The duck was disgusting. We found a cave of leave and algae. It was really fun!

Splash!

As part of our theme, SPLASH, the year 1 classes had a visit from the Water Corporation.  Mrs Brown taught us where our water comes from and how we can be water wise.  Now we are ‘full bottle’ on conserving water!

Oreo Fun

Recently, year 3 students created an edible poster showing the phases of the moon.

Using Oreo biscuits, each student ate the correct amount of their biscuit to represent the 8 phases of the moon.

At the end of the day they all enjoyed a ‘ Phase Feast’!

River Rangers

The River Rangers recently went to AQWA and explored over 12,000km of Western Australia’s coastline, in an underwater journey.

By observing the marine life of the Western Australian coastline, the students were able to learn specific characteristics, behaviours and adaptations of animals. The students had fun looking at God’s beautiful creation and even touching some of the animals.

Other Cultures

This term we invited parents into Pre-primary to share about their unique cultures. Last fortnight some special mums came into Pre-primary to teach us about their Indian culture. They looked beautiful dressed in their colourful saris.  They shared interesting information about one of India's festivals. With the help of our mum's, we decorated our own clay lamps using bright colours and glitter. We even had our own 'fireworks' display using sparklers outside.
