Give joy this Christmas to families who need it the most
As we look to Christmas, I'd like you to meet Paul. This young boy's Christmas (and life) changed because people like you cared for him through Lutheran Community Care.
Before people like you helped:
Paul’s ‘meals’ were bread from a giveaway trolley and his only ‘wash’ was a swim off the local jetty. Paul was taken in by his Gran after he was removed from a broken and dangerous home by Families SA. Truth is, Paul was what you and I would call a ‘handful’. The rough start he had in life meant he was emotionally exhausted and he responded badly to any kind of rules at home or at school. Before long, Paul was expelled from school and Gran was struggling.
Family Care Packs:
Families like Paul and Gran urgently need the blessing of Family Care Packs you can give through LCC this Christmas. At just $75 a family, your Family Care Packs can support a family struggling with the kind of problems Paul and Gran faced - abuse, neglect and poverty. You can help them find hope, then long-term answers.
Each Family Care Pack is directed where it is needed most urgently, tailored to a family’s special needs, and can include: emergency care to protect lives in danger, counselling for trauma, abandonment and loss issues and support for budgeting, planning and parenting skills.
Our care for Paul worked:
When Paul and Gran came to LCC, we linked Gran with a support worker and Paul came to our Family Zone at Ingle Farm. As we got to know Paul better, we linked him with counsellors to help him recover from the hurt he suffered as a child. Today, Gran has made friends with other grandparents caring for their grandchildren, while Paul is well-settled at school. He comes to our Family Zone school holiday program and this year will even be a helper and role model!
This is the hope you can give this Christmas with Family Care Packs. To support us this year, click here.
As we celebrate the birth of our Saviour, I thank God that we can help bring love to life for people like Paul and Gran through LCC. The hope and help you can give will bless them with joy this Christmas.
