Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Guardians,

It was great to be back at school last week and all staff were very pleased with the way students settled back into school routine. Thank you to Nathan McLure for his prompt work on the courts last week. Nathan removed the netball rings that had been stuck for many years and installed a new system so they can be used with greater ease. Also, thank you to the Dabernig family for the chocolates they sent in for the staff to enjoy last week, they
didn’t last long!
School Fees- School fee statements were emailed to families yesterday.  If you require assistance with the fees or have been impacted by COVID and may be unable to meet your financial obligation, please don't hesitate to make contact with the school.
Zooper Dooper Offer - The Zooper Dooper offer will end on Thursday.
School Board Meeting - The next school board meeting will be held next Wednesday at 6pm. This meeting will be held via Google Meets. The relevant information will be emailed out to Board members at the end of the week.
School Closure Day - There will be a school closure day on October 23rd as there is a Public Holiday for the AFL Grand Final.
School Photos - We hope that school photos can be taken before the end of the year, if they are unable to be taken by our contracted photographer from Geelong, we will arrange an alternative. We will keep you informed of any plans.
Before / After School Care Update - Last week I met with the Regional Manager of TheirCare who had the following updates to share.
 Students who scoot/ride/walk to school by themselves are eligible to attend  Before School Care, an adult does not have to drop them off.
 Plans are currently being made for a School Holiday Program for St John’s students in January, more details to follow.
 Enrolled 2021 Foundation students, who have turned 5 are able to attend the School Holiday Program in January.
Foundation to Year 2 Excursion - We had planned for the Foundation and Junior students to attend two excursions this year, one to Shepparton and another to Echuca. However, due to COVID the students were only able to attend the theatre production in Shepparton and we have unfortunately had to
cancel the planned excursion to Echuca. This week Andrea has refunded all Foundation to Year 2 student family accounts for the cost of the excursion.      St John's Athletics - We are thrilled to be able to hold our annual Athletics day for students on Wednesday the 28th of October.  Unfortnuately, Parents will be unable to attend this year due to current restrictions.  Students are encouraged to dress in their house colours on the day and we will be providing a free sausage sizzle and zooper dooper lunch.  Your child may like to bring their own lunch if they don't like sausages.  There will be NO lunch orders on this day.  Please pack extra snacks and a water bottle.

Have a great week everyone and enjoy the beautiful sunshine!

Libby Hamilton.

Week 2 Prayer

Fill our minds that we may hear your wisdom.
Touch our lips that we may speak your truth.
Hold our hearts that we may always follow you – come now, O Word of God.

(Matthew 22: 1 - 4, 14)

Jesus responded by telling still more stories. “God’s kingdom,” he said, “is like a king who threw a wedding banquet for his son. He sent out servants to call in all the invited guests. And they wouldn’t come! He sent out another round of servants, instructing them to tell the guests, ‘Look, everything is on the table, the prime rib is ready for carving. Come to the feast!’ ... That’s what I mean when I say, ‘Many are invited; only a few make it”.

Congratulations to the four students who have their art entered in the MacKillop Art Exhibition. This exhibition comes from all the Catholic primary and secondary schools in our diocese. Ms Watson made a shortlist of art works she thought were the best across the school (noting that there hasn't been as much produced at school this year due to COVID) and Mrs Hamilton chose the best ones from that shortlist.

Well done to Shaely Baldo, Jackson Walker, Grace Eddy and Tully Watson for their entries and well done to all of our students for the great art works they have completed, both in and out of the classroom. Here are the entries we are sending. This year the exhibition will be online and we will post the link when we get more information.
