WELCOME

Welcome to the seventh Edition of our Officials' newsletter, IN THE FIELD. Here you can read about news & updates for all our officials and volunteers giving their time, around Australia and across the globe!

I have just returned from a successful Officials Forum held at the beautiful historic Oakbank Racetrack in South Australia.  Photos and a report follow.  Also underway in March is the 2018 EA Reaccreditation process, which affects National Dressage and Show Horse Judges. Jumping has been busy running out the new 1* classes to assist FEI officials with their qualification criteria!  And many of you are planning overseas officiating trips for the year, so please remember to share your officiating experience at Officials Insight - http://www.equestrian.org.au/officials/insight

2018 RE-ACCREDITATION SHOW HORSE & DRESSAGE JUDGES

A final reminder that EA National Judges in Show Horse and Dressage are currently due to submit re-accreditation paperwork.  This occurs every three years and for these officials, paperwork must  be submitted by March 31 2018, after which time names of non-complying officials will drop off the Officials search until this work is complete.

OFFICIALS FORUM - EQUESTRIAN SOUTH AUSTRALIA

The format that worked so well for Tasmanian Officials has been run again at Oakbank, South Australia on the 24th and 25th February.  A great mix of new and refreshing officials as well as interested members of local Club Organising Committees attended the weekend with Course Directors, EA NMCO- Dr Cate Plummer and FEI Steward General/Eventing – Ms Chris Wallis discussing Clean Sport for Horses, Medication Control process, Yellow Cards and Stewarding.

JUMPING 1* COMPETITION

I enjoyed spectating at the 2nd Sydney held 1* Jumping Competition at Sydney Jump Club, Clarendon recently.  All the Officials helping our FEI L2 Course Designers as they embark to meet the criteria to attend a promotion course in Sydney in April with Werner Deeg (GER) at these events, as well as the Organising Committees, Riders and Owners supporting these events are to be commended.  More to follow in the next edition.

LILO FORE CLINICS

Last month saw a great incentive partnered by Dressage Queensland, Dressage NSW and the QLD/NSW State Branches to bring Lilo Fore to Australia.  Lilo was utilised for not only State HP Squad coaching but also a Masterclass in QLD.  Until her retirement, Lilo was a FEI 5* Dressage and FEI 3* Para-Equestrian Judge.  She has trained and coached for over 40 years and is a sport horse breeder on her farm in America.  Many including Judges had a chance to experience the sessions.
