EO's Report

The EO Report

Dom Courtney, QORF EO

Hi all,

“The earth has music for those who listen.” (Reginald Vincent Holmes)

This quote seems particularly pertinent for modern Australia. (also attributed to William Shakespeare by Google…)

We constantly hear about how busy our society has become. There seems to be a never ending competition to collect as many things or experiences as can be squeezed into one lifetime.  To re-connect with the earth’s music, we don’t necessarily need to leave society behind (although that can help).

We can all go outdoors, just in our neighbourhoods, and allow ourselves time to breathe and listen.

When did you last listen to the music of the earth? Our sector is ideally placed to be able to “make time” during our busy days (and nights) to do this and reap the personal rewards. We can introduce others to the magic of the outdoors and see first-hand what a difference this connection can make. Voting is now open for People’s Choice for the Visioning the Outdoors Film & Photo Comp – prepare to be inspired as you check out the entries submitted by some very talented people.

Thanks to those who found the time to complete QORF’s recent sector survey. The survey information you provided will assist in our mission to provide meaningful services to Queensland’s outdoor sector – and will hopefully allow even more ears to be opened to the music of the outdoors.

Please contact the QORF team if we can be of assistance
Yours in the great outdoors,
Dom

Skateboarding is good for you

- and good for public spaces too!
Having people out and about not only adds to a community’s social vibrancy but also contributes to safety by having more “eyes on the street”. And while it might not to be to everyone’s taste, skateboarding can contribute to a place’s ambience.
