While the outbreak in Ontario has been declared over, measles cases continue to be reported in other parts of Canada, as well as internationally, including in the United States, Mexico, Europe, and other areas, with the ongoing potential for importation. Ontario continues to see a baseline level of non-outbreak cases, and health care providers must remain vigilant. Niagara region experienced 13 outbreak-related cases, with the last one reported in May 2025. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all health system partners for your collaboration and commitment in helping to control this outbreak locally and protect our community. Immunization Immunization remains the best protection against the measles virus and health care providers are encouraged to continue immunization of patients as per the provincial schedule.
