Film screening and Q&A for Sunflower by local film maker, Gabriel Carrubba of Pancake Originals will be held in the Studio at Bunjil Place on Sunday 25. August, 3.00 pm - 5.00 pm.

The Winter Arts Festival has been amazing and there's one more weekend of exciting events including ARI(SE) Opening Night and exhibition at the Hayshed Studio, Salsa Society Social Night, the Berwick Woodworkers Annual Expo and Casey Live and Local Volume 2: Cranbourne 

The next two months are filled with creative opportunites to engage and immmerse yourself in the arts in the south east, read on and get involved.

Casey Creative Professional Development Program Info Session During the session, we will introduce the professional development program, its various components and what to expect. We will also talk through the expression of interest and selection processes. Participants will also have the opportunity to ask any questions they might have. Expressions of Interest will be open for submission from Thursday 11 July to Monday 12 August 2024. Register here

Open Studios Weekend on 26 and 27 October The weekend treats visitors to live demonstrations, workshops and an opportunity to get to know the amazing South East artists, creatives, crafters and makers. Each year there have been new additions to the line up and the reach goes beyond Casey and Cardina, now including spaces in Dandenong. If you would like to particpate in 2024  please email arts@casey.vic.gov.au by Monday 5 August 

ART SPACES PROGRAM: SPRING

Art Spaces promotes and supports traditional and contemporary work from artists residing in the South East suburbs in an annual curated program. These three dedicated spaces create access to visual art in a diversity of forms and gives artists the opportunity to reach new audiences.

Green Turtles 

Bunjil Place Library Art Space showing from Tuesday 16 July - Sunday 18 August, during Library hours

The eleven artworks by Jill-Louise Dawson in this exhibition, feature green turtles which are brought to life in acrylic as well as watercolour, with a focus on their tessellated markings, heavy-lidded eyes and graceful movement underwater. Each composition incorporates ample flow and colour that symbolises basic elements characteristic of their marine habitats.

The fabric that binds us: experiencing the Australian landscape through textile art

Cranbourne Library Art Space
Tuesday 16 July - Saturday 24 August, during Library hours

Using locally sourced wool, Rebecca Matthews explores the natural landscape and how the stark Australian sunlight plays out on our unique flora and terrain. Through these dreamy, needle felted landscapes she utilises scale and texture to mimic the colour and depth of scenery from our everyday lives.

Casey Live and Local music micro-festivals. Volume 2: Cranbourne

Cranbourne Park Shopping Centre and The Amazing Grace, Friday 12, Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 July 

Volume 2: Cranbourne will run across five stages spanning the Cranbourne Park Shopping Centre Food Court, The Groove Train, Times Café and The Amazing Grace. These events are part of Casey Council’s partnership with the Live Music Office and APRA AMCOS, under the wider Casey Live and Local program. This groundbreaking initiative aims to bolster the local live music scene, nurturing its growth and ensuring its vibrancy for years to come. READ MORE

Craft x City of Casey: Casey Creative Professional Development Program EOI

Craft is partnering with City of Casey to deliver a Creative Professional Development program, designed to support creatives in the region to develop their practices and careers in a sustainable and intentional manner. The program is specifically intended for creative practitioners with a connection to the City of Casey who are wanting to gain professional skills within a visual arts, crafts and design context. READ MORE

WOT x CAS x AIR

WOT x CAS x AIR is fundamentally diverse, championing marginalised artists and art-making and inviting new approaches to creative practice. The AIR is centred on the experience of being ‘Way Over There’ in the South-East, reimagining where and how creativity emerges.

- Artists living in the South-East
- Artists identifying as Black / Indigenous / Person of Colour / Migrant / Refugee or Asylum Seeker
- Artists of any age
- Artists who are just beginning their practice, early in their journey or lacking space/opportunity to work on their art

Berwick Artists Society

Join us for weekly painting on Thursdays, 10.00 am - 2.00 pm at the Old Cheese Factory Function Room, Homestead Road, Berwick. The group also offers monthly Portrait Group and Professional Demonstration days. More information here
