Celebrating Seven Years of Impact: Clinical Scholars 2016-2023The Clinical Scholars Impact Report details the unique impact of the 162 Fellows hailing from 26 states, Puerto Rico, and Washington, D.C. These healthcare providers pooled their complementary experience and insights to form 44 teams. These partnerships yielded innovative solutions to complex issues: solutions that could not have been imagined within the confines of any single discipline. A sample of the impacts include:
At the heart of their shared experience is relationships—with each other, with the communities they serve, and with participants in other Robert Wood Johnson Foundation leadership programs. These relationships continue to benefit Fellows, their communities, and the country as a whole. Even though the program ends today, the collective impact will continue to ripple outward, transforming the health and wellbeing of communities nationwide for years to come. Please note: An archived version of the CS website will remain live thanks to RWJF so others can continue to access all the resources, but it will no longer be updated. CS social media accounts will be transferred over to CS alumni to stay connected and share updates. The CS email will not be regularly checked after October 31, 2023, but you can bookmark the UNC team's Equity-Centered Leadership webpage for future updates. Big Idea Talks8 New Big Idea Talks: Watch for how you can be part of the change!Big Idea Talks—delivered in TED Talk style—feature experienced healthcare providers who are collaborating in new ways to advance health equity in their communities and beyond. The short (about 7-14 minutes) talks offer solutions and actions we all can take to build a culture of health where everyone has the opportunity to live the healthiest life possible. In the NewsClinical Scholars Fellows and Alumni challenge themselves to apply their expertise and outside-the-box thinking to making their communities healthier and more equitable. Here's a small sample of what they've been up to below: Joyce Javier (Cohort 2016) was awarded a $4M grant for the Virtual Positive Parenting Intervention to Promote Filipino Family Wellness: A Randomized Controlled Trial from the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD). Seth Himelhoch (Cohort 2017) and the University of Kentucky received a $19M grant for a new research center focused on tobacco regulations named the Appalachian Tobacco Regulatory Science Team (AppalTRuST) from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA). Lilia Cervantes (Cohort 2020) was featured in the the 2023 online publication of Momentum by the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus for her work over the last 10 years to eliminate disparities in Colorado’s healthcare system.
Ella Greene-Moton (CS National Advisory Committee) was elected President-Elect for the American Public Health Association (APHA). This is the final edition of the Pulse as Clinical Scholars ends October 31, 2023.
