November Classes Begin

Level 1 (8:15pm - 9:15pm)
w/ Carla & Philippe
8-count Lindy Hop

When you really want to dig that swing beat, there’s nothing like 8-count lindy hop! We will start with the basics, from zero dance experience on up, and get you swinging around the dance floor in no time! This is a progressive 4-week class; show up on the first week to get maximum benefit.

PRE-REQUISITES: None. No partner required; just bring your enthusiasm and comfortable clothes!

Level 2 (7:15pm - 8:15pm)
w/ Carla & Philippe
Charleston

Add some pizzazz to your Charleston by kicking and double-kicking our way through "airplane" charleston, Hand-to-Hand moves, Hack-saws and Kick-Throughs. We'll even make the magical mix of Charleston Swing-Outs to really get you flying through those swingin' beats! This is a progressive 4-week class; show up on the first week to get maximum benefit.

PRE-REQUISITES: Level 1A-C; twice through recommended. Execute a swingout, lindy circle, charleston and 6-count moves and transition between them in open and closed positions. No partner required, just bring your enthusiasm!

Level 3 (7:15pm - 8:15pm)

Musicality through Footwork and Styling

So many times we dance creatively "safe" dances by sticking to the same old combinations or styling. We're afraid of boring ourselves and our partner, but we're also afraid of messing something up. Come to this class full of courage and leave it with some inspiration! With the limitless world of jazz musicality as our guide, we will explore new and fancy footwork and variations to spice up your arsenal.

PRE-REQUISITES: At least nine consecutive months of Level 1 and Level 2 including one full year of social dance, or discuss your eligibility with instructors. Under-qualified students will be asked to transfer to Level 2 in order to strengthen their fundamentals.

Elective (8:15pm - 9:15pm)

Jazz Up Your Partnered Basics

They say you must learn to play by yourself before you play with others, so how do you make that jump to partnered playtime? This class will teach you new solo jazz moves for every level of learner and also how to execute them in slick partnered moves. Adding jazz roots to your movement will make any partnered dance more fun, authentic, and playful!

PRE-REQUISITES: Having completed 3 months of Level 1. No partner required; just bring your enthusiasm and comfortable clothes.

Harvest Moon J&J Prelim #1

The first out of three prelims for our yearly Harvest Moon Jack and Jill Derby Contest! The contest is open to all amateur dancers, the finals are to live music, and the prizes are tickets to Lindy events! To learn all the details, head to our website.

Balboa Room (former Fast Feet Room)

We are very excited to re-purpose our Fast Feet room into a Balboa Room! That means that while you can still expect the tempos to be higher than the average on the main floor, our Balboa Room DJs will play a wider variety of tempos, as Balboa can be enjoyed at any speed. Also, while we are not gonna reprimand you for an occasional Shag move, Balboa dancing is highly encouraged!
