Welcome to our first issue of Flagpost for 2018! It's been an exciting start to the year already, as this month we welcomed representatives from the fishing industry to the launch event of Seafarers UK’s interim Fishing for a Future report.

This timely report looks at the opportunities and challenges that UK fishing communities are facing today and you can find more about the event and the research (compiled by Cornwall Rural Community Charity and Rose Regeneration) below.

You can also read about our grant funding during our Centenary Year, as we look back on the events and achievements of 2017. And to help us continue our support for the maritime community, please consider taking part in our 2018 challenge events, two of which are highlighted below.

Best wishes,

A Year of Commemoration, Celebration and Business as Usual

From all at Seafarers UK, we would like to say a huge Thank You to all those who supported us whether through donating, regular giving, fundraising, attending our events, giving gifts in kind or just helping to spread the word.

We're pleased to say that in 2017 we were able to award £3.17m to over 60 maritime charities and organisations, including eight organisations new to our grant funding. Read more about our Centenary year and Our Impact in 2017.
