Join the Conversation—Aeon Users Need your Input!

Have you joined our Community yet? If not, you’re missing out on the opportunity to network online with your Aeon, ArchivesSpace, and Web Visibility colleagues as well as with Atlas staff. We invite you to join the conversation today.

Here are some specific topics colleagues are asking about:

What Does the Aeon Concierge Service Do?

Sometimes the best way to explain a service is through examples. We asked Heather Black, Aeon Concierge program coordinator, to tell us a story about how Concierge can help an institution accommodate the different needs of their work processes.

“One of the biggest benefits of Aeon is its ability to be customized to meet the needs of your environment. As Concierge program coordinator, I get to see this reality first-hand through the wide variety of tasks that come in from our customers. Many projects come to us as questions about Aeon functionality. We are then able to apply the product expertise of our team to your workflow question.

Recently, an Aeon Concierge customer asked if we could create an alternate paging slip customized with the information needed for photoduplication processing that was not needed by the paging staff. Is it even possible to have a different template when both groups click the same button to print the paging slip? We were glad say, ‘It is possible!’ By creating a print filter, the Aeon client can be prompted to print an alternate paging slip based on the information contained in the request. In this case, the library uses the Format field to record the type of format for reproduction. If that field is blank, the typical paging slip will print. If that field has information, the photoduplication slip will print. Now the paging staff and the digitization group have the targeted information that they need to complete their work without having to go outside the system to create an alternate document.

This is just one example of the type of work that we do for our Aeon Concierge customers. If you are interested in learning more about the Concierge program, contact us at support@atlas-sys.com.”

Aeon and ArchivesSpace Integration Projects

Many of our Aeon users also use ArchivesSpace, so we wanted you to be aware of two integration projects that we currently have underway. The first is an addon that you can install for the Aeon staff client. It will allow you to search for an item in ArchivesSpace and then import a set of information back to Aeon for processing. The second--currently in testing—is an ArchivesSpace plugin that allows a researcher to find an item and send through an Aeon request form for fulfillment. We expect these integration modules to be available within the next few months.

Upcoming Events

ALA Midwinter Meeting

We’ll be in Denver February 9-13, 2018 for the ALA Midwinter Meeting and hope to see many of you there as well. We plan to follow the same format we did in Atlanta in January, meeting and greeting outside the Exhibit Hall rather than having limited time to really talk with customers and prospects while standing in a booth. We’re working on our plans now and will keep you posted.

To be sure you don’t miss out on meetings and events, please follow Atlas now on Facebook and Twitter. See you in Denver!

ARLIS

We’re excited to be attending the Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA) Conference in New York City February 25 through March 1, 2018. This is Atlas Systems first time at this conference. Please let us know if you plan to be there—we’d love to see some friendly faces while taking advantage of the opportunity to spread the word about Aeon.

More details will follow but for now, save the date for the next Makerspace!
