City of Charles Sturt - Western Business Leaders Newsletter Western Business Leaders NewsletterHello, Local business stories come right from the heart of our growing small business community, and our aim is to increase your visibility, connection and offer inspiration to our broader community. You'll find some great successes in this edition. BE Switchcraft Win Major Grant We recently had the pleasure of meeting with managing director, Anthony Spadavecchia from BE Switchcraft based in Royal Park who have been designing and manufacturing switchboards for over 50 years. Check out their story to find out why they have been so successful in winning grants, their tips for other businesses and ways to find current grants on offer. Seaside Sweets We recently caught up with Jen Andrew, owner of Seaside Sweets and chocolate maker under the label, BarQue Chocolates. Jen purchased a new commercial chocolate tempering machine to replace her old small hobby machine allowing her to produce her fine chocolates in a more consistent and timely manner. This in turn enabled her to increase production so that when her shop reopened her chocolate sales increased. Whilst COVID restrictions have had a devastating effect on a number of local businesses, accessing grants and looking for opportunities whilst being agile and resilient has the potential to open new doors and markets. Whilst applications are now closed for this funding, grants are currently on offer through individual Council websites, the Business SA Grants website, and Grant Guru.
