Energy Savings made over the Christmas period

Over the Christmas period, we organised a 'switch-off' campaign encouraging all staff across the university to switch off all non-essential electrical items. That meant computers, microwaves, printers, and even fridges were switched off.

Here are the savings:

Subscribe to Warpit reuse Network

As a member of staff, you can register to Warpit. This is a platform for reusing surplus-to-requirement items in your office such as chairs, stationery, boxes, etc...

Warp It makes it very easy for individuals in an organisation to share or give surplus items to individuals inside the same organisation in the first instance. If items are not required within the primary organisation they can be passed onto partners. Warp It brings the unused into use, saving money, avoiding carbon emissions and landfill.

Staff Travel Survey

You are invited to fill in our Staff Travel Survey. It is important for us to understand how you travel to, from and between the university campuses to help shape our future transport strategy.

Also, look out for the travel survey in the Travel Options Week. Different organisations from the transport sector, in Leeds and Yorkshire, are coming to campus. It will be the perfect opportunity to ask them questions and give them feedback about their services. See 'save the date' below for more details.

"Our social and economic statistics are telling us what we already know in our hearts: we have created a world that works for only a few. To change this, we must learn to act toward each other and our environment in profoundly different ways."

Recipe of the month

Roasted Jerusalem Artichokes With Braised Garlicky Kale

A seasonal vegetable, Jerusalem artichokes are a great combination with parsnip, pepper or even potatoes (not in that recipe). This roasted vegetable recipe will be well accompanied by a strong garlicy and kale flavour.

Serve while hot.
