- BLACK HISTORY MONTH
The origins of Lindy Hop are deeply rooted in the African-American community. Learn more about Black American culture and history by attending Black History Month celebration events.
- SWINGIN' AT THE SAVOY
Swingin' at the Savoy is back on Feb 21-23. Grab a dance pass and/or sign up for special topics morning classes. Attend the free Meet & Greet with legends of African American vernacular dance.

Black History Month
In honor of Black History Month, Wednesday Night Hop invites you to celebrate and honor swing dancing’s place within Black American culture and history.
Learning this dance means learning about its roots so that we can be responsible ambassadors, practitioners, and organizers of this beloved cultural treasure.
If you attend a Black History Month event near you this February, bring the receipt (or a selfie) to the front desk for free entry to that night’s dance party. Here are events you can attend. And don't forget about Swingin' at the Savoy!

February Series
Beginners:
8-count Lindy Hop
Come learn Lindy Hop! You'll build the dance from the basics while learning some of the history of this Black American art form.
Fundamentals:
Mixing 6s & 8s
In this class, you'll gain practice with follower initiated movements as well as musicality techniques. As a bonus, we'll learn about famous jazz musicians behind many of the songs we hear on the dancefloor.
Intermediate: Jazz - Music, Improv, and Partnership
We'll build your musical muscles and vocabulary: phrasing, jazz steps, and active listening. We’ll break down your pattern, and allow you to explore a new way of dancing! Join us to practice talking without using words, music, and connection!
Audition:
Turns and Balance
It might sound simple, but standing on one foot is hard! In this class we'll work on our balance, our one-foot spins, and integrating them into our lindy hop patterns, both new and old.
Adventure: A Speedy Introduction to Balboa
Originating in the 1930’s, this floaty and rhythmic partnered swing dance is often done to faster tempos with close connections. Through this class, you’ll have a chance to try out a bunch of fundamental Balboa shapes to take to the dance floor.
Balentine's Day Fast Room
2/12: DJ Margot
WNH will dedicate a room to all things “fast swing.” This could mean uptempo Lindy Hop, or dancing other swing dances such as Balboa or Collegiate Shag that evolved with faster music. Give it a whirl!
Volunteer
We have volunteering opportunities to help get you into the dance and lessons for free.

Community Fund
Have a little extra money? Help those who cannot afford to take classes or come to dances. Anybody can donate. Anyone can ask to be subsidized.
