Expert Meeting on the Rights of Children with Disabilities and the Role of the FamilyInclusion International, representing the International Disability Alliance, joined the Joint Working Group CRC/CRPD Expert Meeting in Geneva, alongside other DPO's and Children's Rights Organisations. This meeting was an opportunity to discuss the issues that concern children with disabilities rights under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The UN General Assembly
will adopt a resolution on the rights of children without parental care by the end of this year. Together with other advocacy groups from the disability and children's rights movements, we have published a statement to influence the resolution by asking that the recognition for all children's right (including children with disabilities) to live within a family to be recognised and to not allow for any institutional living settings.
