The ceremony will take place in the courtyard and will include a reading, reflection, and prayer. The Advent Wreath lighting and ceremony will replace lower school chapel on December 2, 9, and 16 and replace the Flag Ceremony on December 6 and 13. We will not have Advent Wreath ceremonies on Wednesdays; we will participate in all school chapel as usual on December 4, 11, and 18. Third Grade Students Engineer Paper Bridges in IDEAStudioThird grade students have been learning about bridges. Ms. Wilson enthusiastically shares, "In English, we read “Pop’s Bridge”, a story about the inception and construction of the Golden Gate Bridge. In Social Studies, we have talked about Jacksonville being the city of Seven Bridges and how they represent many different styles, like suspension, beam, and arch. In Science, we have been learning about forces, and today we were able to construct our own paper bridges. Students had to think about the forces that would keep a bridge stable and support weight. Where was the force coming from? Why do you need equal and opposing forces to make something sturdy and solid? What do you need to do in order to make your bridge both stable and functional? We had fun together and our students demonstrated innovation and creativity!"
