GENERAL

SEC CROSS COUNTRY COURSE TO REOPEN NEXT WEEK

The State Equestrian Centre cross country course, polocrosse yards and the bridle trail entrance to the SEC will be reopened next week. The area has been repaired and inspected in conjunction with the WAYER event organisers and deemed safe for use. EWA thanks everyone that has made this possible.

EA TEAMS UP WITH HORSE & COUNTRY TV

Equestrian Australia is excited to announce a ground-breaking partnership with popular and respected international TV network, Horse & Country TV. The four-year partnership will provide EA’s Members with access to exclusive equestrian content from Australia and overseas.  It will also provide a platform for Australian events, horses and riders to gain better global exposure across H&C’s international network of channels. 2017 GOW-GATES CLUB DEVELOPMENT GRANT PROGRAM

Equestrian Australia has announced the return of the Club Development Grant Program, this year with a sole focus on safety and risk management. EWA affiliated clubs can now apply for up to $3,000 of funding to improve safety standards. Applications close 27 April. MORE

EWA would like to recommend that all EWA clubs check the Department of Sport and Recreation Events page for upcoming workshops that could be of interest to your committee, riders and volunteers. DSR holds regular workshops on club management, coaching, officiating, safety and many other topics.

APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR EA NCAS WORKING PARTY

Equestrian Australia is in the process of reviewing and reformatting the NCAS Coaching Pathway. As a result they are asking for applications from equestrian community members to form discipline specific working parties to be involved in the content review. Applications close 14 April. MORE

HIGH PERFORMANCE & RISING STARS

FUNDING SUPPORT FOR EWA JUMPING SQUAD RIDERS

A share of $4,000 is available to Open, Recognition and Youth Squad horse/rider combinations for 2017. This can be claimed as a reimbursement on entry fees for eligible classes. Round 1 funding include events that occur between March-July 2017 (to include Yalambi Classic/Bunbury SJ Classic/Busselton Winter Classic/GCEC). MORE

EVENTING WORKSHOP WITH FEI4* JUDGE LES SMITH (UK)

Dressage Judges Task Force invite Eventing Dressage Judges, Technical Delegates and Stewards to a Workshop with Les Smith (Scotland) - International FEI 4* Eventing Judge, BE Accredited Trainer, BD Judge, show jumping specialist and eventing assessor. Les has competed at major events including Badminton and his FEI Eventing 4* status sees him officiating at events around the world.

Come along and meet Les and get an insight into some of his thoughts on judging the eventing horse including CCI, CIC International levels, National Levels, progression in training, the link between the phases and much more.

DJTF is proud to host an EA Young Dressage Horse Seminar with International Young Horse and 4* Judge, Ricky MacMillan (QLD). Ricky will be covering the requirements and marking system for 4, 5 and 6 year old horses.

Ricky has been a National Judge for over 35 years and has judged in over 20 countries since becoming an FEI judge in 2008. She is active both in Australia and internationally as a judge educator. Ricky is also a dual Olympian and WEG competitor, competing at Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004, and has over 30 wins at International Grand Prix level including 5 Pacific League World Cup Finals and a CDI-W win in Nunspeet, Holland.

We encourage everyone interested in the training and preparation of young dressage horses to attend this seminar. Judges, riders and coaches are all important for the development of our Dressage stars of the future.

VALLEY EQUINE VETERINARY CENTRE

The WA Eventing Committee would like to thank Warwick Vale and the team at Valley Equine Veterinary Centre for their continued support of our state's eventing community.

Valley Equine Veterinary Centre provides $2500 each year to Eventing WA, plus veterinary attendance at one WA FEI CIC/CCI event in an FEI Veterinary Delegate Capacity, and two annual veterinary lectures to WA Eventing Squad Members.

They also sponsor the FEI Young Eventing Rider of the Year Award, which aims to foster the young eventing rider into FEI competitions. The award includes a prize for the most outstanding and successful horse/rider combination of the year and allows for some financial assistance for further training and education for that combination during the following year.
