NZ Composer Sessions 2019

Congratulations to all the composers whose works were selected for the latest               NZ Composer Sessions. The NZ Composer Sessions is a collaboration between the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, SOUNZ Centre for New Zealand Music, and RNZ Concert. The following works will be rehearsed and performed by the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and recorded by RNZ Concert in July:

  • Brigid Bisley: Glimmer of Blue 
  • Reuben Jelleyman: Vespro 
  • Lucien Johnson: Axum 
  • Alissa Long: The Corner of the War 
  • Kit Powell: Na Māui te Ahi a te Ao 
  • Tabea Squire: Variations 
  • Kirsten Strom: Ice
  • Anthony Young: On Hearing the Shining Cuckoo
NZ Composer Sessions 2019
 

Composer Chris Artley's ‘O My Children, My Poor Children!’, for SATB choir and big band, was premiered before a full house at the International Schools Choral Music Society (ISCMS) Gala Concert at Shanghai Symphony Hall on 23 February.
