The team had a series of productive conversations in which they shared updates on a host of issues and priorities with legislative staff from key committees and member offices. The race to succeed Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) for House Speaker is still up in the air. While Steve Scalise (R-LA) won the GOP Conference vote for Speaker, the latest reports indicate there is a stronghold of a dozen or so Republicans who are not satisfied with this option. While in limbo the House cannot consider any other normal floor proceedings or deliberate on pressing legislation until a Speaker is confirmed. On Tuesday the Federal Communications Commission announced that broadband providers will be required to display clear labels starting on April 10 detailing information about the cost and performance of their services when consumers are shopping around. The Broadband Consumer Labels — modeled after nutrition labels — will include information such as introductory rates, broadband speeds, links to privacy policies and more. These labels are intended to be quick, easy-to-understand guides to give consumers more transparency when shopping for internet service and avoid surprising fees and policies. Smaller ISPs (those with 100,000 or fewer subscribers) must display a label before Oct. 10, 2024. |
