Coronavirus (COVID-19) | Update for Residents and Families

Dear Resident Family Member,

RE: COVID-19 Outbreak Update for Residents and Families: Calvary Haydon Retirement Community

We wish to inform residents and families that as of 8.00am this morning, the number of confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 at Calvary Haydon Retirement Community remains the same:

  • Nine (9) residents (all residents of the Mary Potter household); and
  • Three (3) members of staff (all self-isolating at home).

The retesting of residents and staff has commenced this morning on site and we expect to have the results of this testing by tomorrow.

Residents and families will be notified of any additional cases as soon as we have this information. In the instance a resident tests positive to COVID-19, the resident, their family and doctor will be contacted directly by the facility and provided with an update on current health and wellbeing.

As advised by ACT Health, the retesting of residents and staff will continue every 72 hours. The next deep clean at the facility is scheduled to take place tomorrow, in line with ACT Public Health Unit directions.

Calvary continues to work closely with the ACT Public Health Unit on contact tracing, the testing of residents and staff including the maintaining of the safest possible care environment for residents and staff under outbreak conditions.

We know that this is a very difficult time for residents and families. We will continue to contact the listed person responsible for each resident by phone on a daily basis and email an update with any developments. You can help us to ease anxiety by please sharing this information with other family and friends.

Supporting you during this time is of the utmost importance to us. It is important for residents and families to understand your rights and what support systems are in place should you need additional help.

Please read the Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN) information sheet Knowing Your Rights During COVID-19 for more information.
