Keep up to date with the Old Aquinians Association and Aquinas College

130 YEAR ANNIVERSARY

‘Inspired by the Gospels of Christ and in the spirit of Edmund Rice, we seek to be people of faith, character and excellence’.

On Sunday 17 March, we will be conducting an Open Day at the College to showcase our facilities and programs to current and prospective families. Over 1000 people have already registered to attend and Old Aquinians and former families are very welcome to attend. Click here to register to attend.

It is the stories of Aquinians which resonate so well with our students. My predecessor, David McFadden, initiated posters explaining the legacy of prominent alumni. Earlier this term, we recognized 4 more Aquinians who have left an indelible mark on society. Eric Silbert (Class of 1938) was a war hero, Gordon L’Estrange (Class of 1958) is arguably Aquinas’ best ever athlete, Christopher Back (Class of 1966) was a prominent scientist and politician and Judge John Prior (Class of 1979), a significant legal practitioner.

Aquinas is about its young men. On entering the College, two of the most prominent Pillars display the years 1894 and 1938 signifying the commencement of CBC Terrace and then the move to Mt Henry for the establishment of Aquinas College. The red and black colours came with Aquinas and CBC Terrace continued until the establishment of Trinity College in 1962. Celebrating our 130th birthday is an occasion to reflect on the legacy of our College and, importantly, plan for the future. It is also an opportunity to commemorate our shared heritage with Trinity. Our Foundation Ball, scheduled for 10 August, will certainly recognize Aquinas College past and present.

There are three planning processes occurring concurrently at Aquinas College this year. Our strategic planning is being updated during 2024. Prior to my tenure, exciting capital development planning was initiated, and we will be seeking approval for performing arts’ enhancements. Thirdly, we are developing a marketing plan to ensure the Aquinas College messaging is consistent within our own community and beyond.

Our legacy posters tell wonderful Aquinian stories. Articulating behaviours which highlight our values of faith, character and excellence will be important as we begin the next chapter of Aquinas College.

Robert Henderson (Class of 1979)

Narrikup Cricket Club

Old Aquinians, do you have a cricket bat that you’d like to donate to a great project?

We recently gathered OAs from classes ranging from 1959-2010, who turned up, bats in hand, and reminisced over a game of AC Cricket with the purpose of donating bats to Narrikup Cricket Club’s cricket bat wall

We were delighted to see Robert Henderson (‘79), Tom Cullen (‘08), Kevin Prindiville (‘66), Terry Alderman (‘73), Darren Wates (‘93), Terry Prindiville (‘59), Br Clery, Luke Wimbridge (AC Director of Cricket) and Cameron Bancroft (‘10)

Want to get involved? Simply drop your bats to the Aquinas College main reception during business hours.

Legacy Plaques

Recently we celebrated cherished legacies of Aquinas College, where we honoured our esteemed alumni and their families with a special unveiling of their Legacy Plaques.

During the event, we witnessed generations come together to commemorate their loved ones, whose enduring impact will be remembered by all when these plaques are proudly displayed amongst the Aquinas College grounds for years to come.

WWE @ Aquinas College

Aquinas College played host to an unforgettable event in collaboration with Telethon7 Perth. The occasion saw the inspiring, inclusive basketball team, Rebound WA, face off against our own Aquinas College team in a spirited match that kept our audience, comprising of our Middle School, family and friends, very loud.

Adding to the excitement of the day, the game featured special guests from the world of WWE, including Grayson Waller , Drew McIntyre, and Bianca Belair.

Stepping into the role of host with professionalism and charm was none other than Aquinas' own Senior School student and 2021 WA Little Telethon Star, Oliver Lim.

Well done to Rebound WA who emerged victorious, showcasing their remarkable skill and determination on the court!
