St John's School Euroa Newsletter Term 2 Week 6 St John's is a Child Safe School where all children are respected and are protected from harm. Principal's Message Dear Families, This week we are half way through Term 2, eventhough we may not be as busy in our daily lives as we once were, time is still flying. This week we welcome new student Lachlan Campbell (Yr 6) to St John’s and we hope he enjoys the remainder of his primary education here with us. Thank you to the Burton family for bringing us morning tea last week, Scott Rowan for sourcing sanitiser for us to use when students return and Alison Murphy for the flowers that brightened up our staffroom. The photo above is the Year 6 entry to the Honeysuckle Art Show, the artwork is currently hanging in our foyer. Each student decorated a leaf and together they form a heart. Stunning, well done Mrs Watson and Year 6. Return to Student learning Next Tuesday, we welcome back the Foundation to Year 2 students to school, whilst the Year 3-6 continue with remote learning until Tuesday 9th June. Students must bring back their Stepping Stones maths books, their iPad and iPad charger, take-home readers and any library books. Please do not send in any worksheets or writing materials that your child has been using as we have been advised not to allow these materials on site. Please make sure you log in to your child’s classroom noticeboard to find out exactly what materials they need to bring back to school. School cleaning and student hygiene Our entire school is currently cleaned thoroughly each night and we will continue this cleaning for the foreseeable future. Staff and students will be required to wash and sanitise their hands regularly throughout the school day. Students must bring their own drink bottle each day as they will not have access to the bubble taps. Students who present to school unwell or have flu-like symptoms will be sent home. Change to end of school day routine. Whilst dropping off at the start of the school day will remain the same as before we have made some changes to the end of the school day. Each day formal learning will cease at 2:50pm and students will begin preparations to leave the school. Please note the following:
Parents are asked to remain in or stand by their cars and teachers will direct students to you. Parents must not congregate near the school at any time during pick up or drop off. Remote Learning From the next Tuesday (F-2) and 25th May (Years 3-6), remote learning will cease as teachers will return to face to face learning and students will be expected to attend school daily. Access to school Unfortunately, for the remainder of this term, parents will not be allowed to enter the school building. If you need to come into the school, please ring Andrea to make an appointment. Cancellation of School Camp It is with deep regret that we have had to cancel the Year 3 and 4 camp to Anglesea that was planned for later this term and Andrea has credited all of the Year 3 and 4 family accounts for the cost of the camp. Religious Education Laudato Si Week – 15th May - 24th May. Common prayer for the fifth anniversary of Laudato Si’ Loving God, Creator of heaven and earth and all that is in them, You created us in your image and made us stewards of all your creation, of our common home. You blessed us with the sun, water and bountiful land so that all might be nourished. Open our minds and touch our hearts, so that we may attend to your gift of creation. Help us to be conscious that our common home belongs not only to us, but to all future generations, and that it is our responsibility to preserve it. May we help each person secure the food and resources that they need. Be present to those in need in these trying times, especially the poorest and those most at risk of being left behind. Transform our fear, anxiety and feelings of isolation into hope so that we may experience a true conversion of the heart. Help us to show creative solidarity in addressing the consequences of this global pandemic. Make us courageous to embrace the changes that are needed in search of the common good, Now more than ever may we feel that we are all interconnected, in our efforts to lift up the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor. We make our prayer through Christ our Lord.
