Government finance may be available 

Export Finance Australia, the Government's export credit agency, is helping Australian businesses take on the world.  If your business needs help with finance in the following areas, they may be able to help:

  • Working capital support - To finance against supplier invoices or international purchase orders
  • Capital investment - To purchase new equipment and expand your export operations
  • International expansion - To establish or grow your business operations overseas
  • Online growth - To invest in eCommerce and grow your sales to international customers

Important notice for exporters using EXDOC to generate EDNs

The Department of Agriculture, Water and Environment has had to update its site ID in ICS (Home Affairs) which took place last night around 9pm the 21st of April 2021.
 
This will mean that Export Declaration Numbers (EDNs) raised through EXDOC before this date will not be able to be Amended/Withdrawn through EXDOC SEW.
 
Clients with EDNs raised before 9pm on the 21st of April 2021 through EXDOC that need amending will need to clone their RFP and generate a new RFP and EDN where possible or apply for a new EDN directly with ICS.
 
If the above options are not possible then clients will need to contact the EXDOC Helpdesk exdoc.helpdesk@awe.gov.au for further advice.

 

New Chinese regulation on imported product (promulgated 12 April 2021 to operate from 1 Jan 2022)

The new Chinese regulation covering the responsibilities of importers, registration, and the competent authorities in exporting countries is now available.

It is a translation of the Chinese original, dated 12 April 2021 but it is applicable from 1 Jan 2022.

The document has some key areas highlighted by the Seafood Export Consultative Committee (SECC). The broad framework appears similar to the current situation but may put more responsibility on the exporting countries’ authorities to fix breaches.

EAN 2021-07 - Publication of updated AA guidelines to support new export legislation

The department has published an updated version of the Approved Arrangement Guidelines for the Export of Livestock (AA guidelines) to reflect recent changes to export legislation.

 

IFAM updates

The IFAM flight schedules have been updated with the latest details on IFAM-supported flights to Narita and Seoul with Japan Airlines. There have been some changes to flying days.

In addition, the table below provides a summary of all new and extended IFAM flights announced in the last two weeks.

Tigers launch "less than a container load" trial from Western Australia

From Friday 16 April, Tigers International Solutions have commenced a ‘Less than a Container Load' (LCL) trial service between Fremantle and Singapore. The initiative will offer businesses another avenue to move perishable products to overseas markets, and according to Tigers will cost a fraction of the current airfreight rates.

The first container was set at minus one degree celsius. They will be running another trial service from Fremantle to Singapore at plus 3 degrees celsius in the week beginning 26 April, subject to demand.

Businesses are encouraged to speak with their Freight Forwarders about the initiative, including potential new destinations or contact Jason Radford from Tigers about shipping rates and schedules.

 

Hub to help exports to India

The Indian economy is liberalising fast and will pass the US$3 trillion mark in 2021, according to the IMF. Rapid growth has triggered opportunities in resources, agriculture, technology, healthcare and infrastructure. To aid exporters, Austrade has launched a major new program, the Australia–India Business Exchange (AIBX).  Explore the hub here

 

Briefing on China's 14th five year plan

The next in Australia China Business Council's series of National Briefings features His Excellency, Ambassador Cheng Jingye, China's Ambassador to Australia to be held on 29 April from 10:00 - 11:00am  AEST.

At a time when Australia-China relations remain strained, the need for diplomatic engagement has never been more important. The Ambassador will address the current state of Australia-China relations and the outlook for trade and investment between Australia and China.

Global markets insights 

The Australian Government has partnered with the Export Council of Australia to present a six-part Global Market Insights series. The next session will focus on The Middle East and Africa on the 29th April from 3:00 - 4:00pm AEST. For more information and to register, click here.

 

ASEAN market update for agri-food exporters

On the 29 April  from 1:00 - 2:00pm AEST there is an opportunity to hear from Austrade’s ASEAN team from Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines on:

  • the current state of play in these markets
  • key insights and information on how the Government is supporting Australian agri-food exporters impacted by trade disruptions to upscale and diversify their businesses across new international markets.
