No images? Click here When a Gambian family cannot afford to educate all its children, they will prioritize the boys. Often, girls who do not stay in school end up marrying far too young, beginning the cycle of poverty and powerlessness again. So Who Will Prioritize the Girls? That's where we come in. This year, the donors of GambiaRising, supported by our dedicated team of Gambian volunteer Coordinators, are supporting more than 500 Gambian girls of "marrying age" to go back to, and/or stay in school. Among the 20% lowest-income Gambian families, fewer than 3% of girls complete 12th grade, and every one who does is a life that is changed forever. They may be mothers one day, but not yet. And when they do, it will be their choice. Thanks to your support, today they are in school, growing up and gaining confidence. So let's celebrate these young Gambians, teen-aged and older, and join them in saying: HAPPY NOT-MOTHER'S DAY !
