Dear Colleagues,

As you may be aware, the Federal Government announced this week that all aged care workers must be vaccinated against COVID-19 by mid-September 2021.

Calvary welcomes this decision which will ensure our vulnerable residents, clients and our staff are protected against the threat of coronavirus. Receiving the vaccine is a safe, effective and cost-free way to be better protected from the serious health impacts of COVID-19.

What happens now?

The details of the scheme are yet to be finalised, however we strongly encourage you to book in for your Covid-19 vaccination as soon as possible.

Once further details are confirmed, we will be able to provide you with more information including:

  • Calvary Covid-19 vaccination policy;
  • a process and risk assessment framework for declinature on the grounds of medical contraindication or conscientious objection;
  • a procedure for capturing vaccination status at a site and system level.

Information for accessing vaccinations can be found at https://www.health.gov.au/initiatives-and-programs/covid-19-vaccines
