Chair Bradley’s statement on the announcement of $25.7 million federal housing investment

Jan. 17, 2024

Regional Chair Jim Bradley offered the following statement following news of the federal government's investment of $25.7 million from the Housing Accelerator Fund in St. Catharines:

“I am pleased to see the federal government’s investment of over $25 million into the City of St. Catharines to fast track the construction of new homes. Over the next 10 years, more than 12,000 homes will be built in part due to this generous funding, representing a significant impact on our goal to ensure there is more attainable and affordable housing.

While this is a city project, the Region is always pleased to see any announcement that increases the supply of housing in our community. On behalf of Regional Council, I want to thank the federal government for their substantial contribution to Niagara, and their ongoing cooperation with municipalities across the country.”
