EQUESTRIAN VICTORIA NEWS May 2017 Issue
FROM THE CHAIR
This month it’s all systems go with the Saddleworld MI3DE only a few weeks away. Always a star event on the calendar, this year it is particularly so as we celebrate the 60th anniversary. MI3DE is also hosting the 2017 Oceania Championships. Victoria is well represented on the team, highlighting the strength of Eventing in this state
More information can be found further into this newsletter, but I encourage all members to be a part of what promises to be a spectacular event showcasing some of the best Eventing talent (both horse and rider) this country has to offer. Tickets can be purchased here: http://bit.ly/M3DETickets. May has also seen the commencement of our new CEO,
Fiona Baxter. Though still in her very early days, Fiona is already having a positive effect and we eagerly look forward to the future with Fiona at the helm. Being an equestrian is not all boots and jodhs! On the 22nd July, we have the chance to ‘glam-up’ at the 2017 Equestrian Victoria Awards Night and Young Ambassador Awards to be held once again at the Moonee Valley Racing Club. Nominations for all awards are open and forms can be downloaded here: http://bit.ly/2017Awards_1 and tickets for the event are on sale here:
https://www.trybooking.com/281278. The Awards are a fantastic celebratory event, so don’t miss out. I hope you enjoy reading the rest of this newsletter and take the opportunity to note and update your calendar with one of the many events and education sessions across the various disciplines. Fiona will introduce each edition of the Newsletter from next month so until then ... Safe riding to all.

Eventing enthusiasts are in for a treat this year at the Saddleworld Melbourne 3 Day Event.
To help celebrate the 60th running of this prestigious competition we have introduced the Dorian Club, (named after the winner of the 1957 event), where riders & owners and past winners can go to watch the competition in a prime position alongside the VIP marquee. The facilities include a large marquee on the sand arena for dressage & show jumping days and a marquee adjacent to the VIPs at the main water on cross country day. Heaters will be on and drinks & food are at bar prices. Members of the public can also join the club for a small fee. If you are interested in joining you can buy tickets online and select the DORIAN CLUB option. The VIP marquee is also available for the ultimate experience, a prime position and all food & drinks included.
We are encouraging the public to pre purchase their entry tickets, especially on cross country day, which allows them to be scanned through quickly at the gate. We are looking forward to welcoming the two New Zealand teams to make it a truly international competition ... bring on the Oceania Championship!

WHEN the mud settled after the running of the Victorian interschools championships at Werribee Park, it was possibly the organisers, rather than the 460 riders, who deserved the medals.
