Connect with Atlas Systems this Summer

It seems like every year we add new conferences to our schedule to get out and connect with our users and prospective users. If you’re attending any of these conferences, please plan to visit with us.
RBMS Conference. Coral Gables, FL. June 21-24. Atlas and Zepheira Lunch. June 22, 12:00-1:30pm. Biltmore Hotel. RSVP to aeon@atlas-sys.com

ALA Annual Conference. Orlando, FL. June 24-27. See us in Booth #1518. Stop by and talk with our Training & Library Solutions and Development staff members about Tune-ups; Concierge Service; ArchivesSpace hosting options, consulting, and implementation support; and whatever else is on your mind. With the release of ILLiad 8.7, now’s a good time to consider a Tune-up.

You’ll also want to talk to our Zepheira partners about linked data and about how The Library.Link Network can increase your library’s visibility on the Web.

And be sure and ask about our special Video Training Library free trial for ALA attendees, valid until August 1, 2016.

D2L Fusion Conference. Washington, DC. July 18-19. Learn more about Ares integration with Brightspace.

ArchivesSpace Member Forum. Atlanta, GA. August 2. Dustin Stokes, Atlas Development Team Leader and Partner Solutions Manager, will participate on a panel titled, ArchivesSpace Integrations – A Status Report and Look Ahead.”

SAA Conference. August 4-5. See us in Booth #513. Meet the Partners Users Group/Wine and Cheese Social. Presented by Atlas, Zepheira and ArchivesSpace. August 4, 3:30-5:00pm. Hilton Hotel. RSVP to aeon@atlas-sys.com.

End of Year Funds

If this is the end of your fiscal year and you have a little money left over, now’s a good time to invest in training with a subscription to the Video Training Library. Subscriptions start as low as $299 a year. For a list of subjects covered in the Video Training Library—and to subscribe—visit https://training.atlas-sys.com/. Or email training@atlas-sys.com for pricing information.

Congratulations RUSA-STARS Achievement Award Winners

The Sharing and Transforming Access to Resources Section (STARS) of RUSA has selected the winners of its two achievement awards honoring librarians providing exceptional service in the fields of interlibrary loan, resource sharing and document delivery.

The Atlas Systems Mentoring Award winner is Kimberly Steiner, interlibrary loan technician at Messiah College (Pa.). Steiner was chosen because as the sole person in interlibrary loan at her library, attendance at the ALA Annual Conference would allow her to learn skills necessary to support users from Messiah College, an institution that is continually expanding their graduate programs; better understand the profession; and also network and learn from colleagues. This award, sponsored by Atlas, offers $1,250 to a library practitioner new to the field of ILL and resource sharing to fund travel expenses to ALA Annual Conference in Orlando.

The Virginia Boucher-OCLC Distinguished ILL Librarian Award winner is Tina Baich, associate librarian and head of resource sharing and delivery services, bibliographic and metadata services, Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis.

Full details about these awards are available at http://www.ala.org/news/member-news/2016/03/baich-and-steiner-selected-2016-interlibrary-loan-achievement-award-recipients

What’s New in ILLiad 8.7?

To help you plan implementation of new ILLiad releases, version 8.7 incorporates “End of Support Soon” and “End of Support” messages. Sixty days before support for a version of ILLiad ends, a message shows on the bottom right corner of the client called “End of Support Soon” that provides the day that support will end. Another message to the immediate left called “An Update is Available” allows the user to download supported versions of ILLiad. Once support has officially ended, the “End of Support” message will show on the bottom right corner of the client.

For details on other new, changed and fixed features, please check the Release Notes at https://prometheus.atlas-sys.com/display/illiad/ILLiad+8.7+Release+Notes

Time for an ILLiad Tune-up?

With the release of ILLiad 8.7, support for version 8.5 will end on September 1, 2016. If you’re still on 8.5 now might be a good time for an ILLiad Tune-up. You can avoid the stress of a last minute update and fast forward to ILLiad 8.7.  A tune-up can prepare your staff and systems in advance to update skills and take advantage of new features you may have missed. For more information about a tune-up, visit http://www.atlas-sys.com/services/tune-ups/ or contact us at training@atlas-sys.com.

Aeon—We Play Nice with Others

We keep learning new things as we continue to expand into the special collections and archives communities. Most recently we’ve found there is confusion about how Aeon intersects with the other systems institutions have. So we’ve created a new graphic that we hope makes it clearer. Aeon is not another front end system. We work with the other systems you have. Questions about how we help put the pieces of the puzzle together? Contact Renee Chastain at rchastain@atlas-sys.com.
