First 5 Forever tip of the month: descriptive words

We often don’t give adjectives (describing words) much thought when chatting with adults, but we should! They are the wonderful, exciting, expressive and crucial tools children use to express thoughts and feelings, and are essential for developing communication skills.

Try out these adjective-filled picture books at home:

•  The Most Magnificent Thing by Ashley Spires

•  The Little mouse, the Red Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear by Don Wood

•  Old Hat, New Hat by Stan and Jan Berenstein
