刻不容緩——有關非法動植物貿易
在9月26日至10月4日期間，國際間召開了一場會議，就着《瀕危野生動植物種國際貿易公約》(《公約》)進行會談，期間作出了不少決定，包括將鐮狀真鯊、深海長尾鯊、淺海長尾鯊和狐形長尾鯊載入附錄II，日後進口或出口相關產品時，必須持有相關准許證 。這無疑是令人鼓舞的消息，但非法動植物貿易的情況仍有待改善。

Sem 1 勁過飯 Superpass Dinner 2015-2016
2015-2016年度第一個學期的勁過飯已於2015年11月26日圓滿結束! 大家當晚都玩得盡興，感謝各位的來臨和支持，並恭喜各得獎幸運兒!
The 2015-2016 Superpass Dinner of Semester 1 was held successfully on 26 November! It was wonderful night and thank you for all your participation and support! Congratulations to all the gift winners!
「保衛郊野公園 - 行山打卡」
"Save Our Country Parks - Be Counted"
保衛郊野公園聯盟於2015年12月13日首次舉辦欣賞郊野公園日活動，今年主題為「保衛郊野公園日 - 行山打卡」，以反對建議發展郊野公園的言論。為響應及支持此活動，我們於當日於龍虎山郊野公園設置兩個檢查點，以此向大眾宣揚郊野公園的重要性及爭取他們支持保衛郊野公園。感謝各位義工的協助！
The Save Our Country Parks Alliance held the first Annual Country Parks Appreciation Day “Save Our Country Parks - Be Counted” on 13 December, in opposition to the voices who proposed the use of country parks for development. To support this event, ELSS was in charge of the two checkpoints set up in Lung Fu Shan Country Park, promoting the importance of country parks to the public and gaining their support on saving country parks. Thanks for the help of our volunteers!
學到野鳥 1 & 2
Where The Wild Birds Are 1 & 2
南生圍鄰近拉姆薩爾濕地，擁有極高且特別的生物多樣性。於2016年1月31日及2月6日，參加者在導賞員的帶領下認識了南生圍的雀鳥品種及其生境和習性，並了解到南生圍的生態所面臨的威脅。ELSS在此再次感謝踴躍支持的參加者、付出時間與心思的導賞員們(豬 潤、肥蘇、Andy和Cherry)以及為觀鳥小冊子提供相片的Ivan Tse!
Next to the Mai Po Inner Deep Bay Ramsar Site, Nam Sang Wai has rich and unique biodiversity. With the guidance of demonstrators on 31 January and 6 February, participants learnt the species, habitat and threats in Nam Sang Wai. Great thanks to all participants, demonstrators(豬潤, 肥蘇, Andy and Cherry), and Ivan Tse for photos in the field guide!
香港大學學生會理學會環境生命科學學會2015-2016年度的就職典禮已於2月19日成功舉行。當天有幸邀請了張潔儀小姐(長春社行政總裁)、Dr. Vengatesen Thiyagarajan(香港大學生物科學學院)以及孟曉盈小姐(上屆內務副主席)致辭。感謝各位抽空出席見證Enthusers的正式上任! 我們會盡力為保護大自然出一分力及為會員服務!
The Inauguration Ceremony of Environmental Life Science Society, SS, HKUSU, Session 2015-2016, was held successfully 19 February. We are honored to have Ms. Suzanne Cheung (Chief Executive Officer of the Conservancy Association), Dr. Vengatesen Thiyagarajan (School of Biological Sciences, the University of Hong Kong) and Ms. Mang Hiu Ying, Maggie (Internal Vice-Chairman of ELSS of the last session) as guest speakers.Thank you everyone for coming to witness the official commencement of Enthusers! We will try our best to strive for the nature and the Society!
Ball Games Night
在Ball Games Night當晩，參加者們除了進行了足球、羽毛球、籃球等球類活動外，還大戰了數場閃避球! 雖然人數不多，但大家都玩得十分盡興，留下了美好的回憶!
At Ball Games Night, participants played different kinds of ball games including soccer, badminton and basketball. We also had a few matches of dodge ball, too! Although there were not many people, we had an exciting and memorable night!
ELSS於2016年3月31日及4月5日舉行了《滅絕最後關頭》的放映會，希望透過影片為大家帶來一些啟發，感謝各位對ELSS及《滅絕最後關頭》的支持!
'Racing Extinction' Screening was successfully held on 31/3 and 5/4. We hope to bring you some inspirations through this documentary. Thank you everyone for supporting ELSS and ‘Racing Extinction’ !
ELSS與創建香港、島嶼活力行動及東涌社區發展陣線聯合舉辦的大嶼山可持續發展民間論壇已於4月9日舉行，論壇錄影和講者簡報已上載於創建香港的網頁，希望大家繼續關注大嶼山的發展計劃。
The Lantau Sustainable Development Forum co-organized by Designing Hong Kong, Environmental Life Science Society, SS, HKUSU, Living Islands Movement and Tung Chung Community Development Alliance was held on 9 April. The video recording and presentation powerpoint have been uploaded on Designing Hong Kong website.
2015-2016年度第二個學期的勁過飯已於2016年4月22日圓滿舉行! 我們有幸邀請了Prof. Yvonne Sadovy及Dr. Billy Hau出席，大家當晚都玩得盡興，感謝各位的來臨和支持!

小麻雀嘉年華
Sparrow Carnival
ELSS於5月1日參加了由香港觀鳥會主辦的小麻雀嘉年華，以市區常見鳥類為主題準備了小遊戲及展板，當天氣氛相當熱鬧! 特別鳴謝 Tom Li 及 Arthur Chung 為小遊戲及展板提供相關相片!
ELSS joined the Sparrow Carnival organized by the Hong Kong BIrd Watching Society on 1 May. We prepared game and exhibition boards based on our theme of common birds seen in urban area of Hong Kong. The atmosphere was extraordinary bustling! Special thanks to Tom Li and Arthur Chung for providing photos for game and exhibition boards!
夜裏尋蛙
Night Safari at Ti Po Kau
以中學生為對象的夜裏尋蛙，兩場活動分別於7月6日及15日完滿結束，ELSS在此感謝中華基督教會銘賢書院的師生以及其他參加了夜裏尋蛙的同學們! 希望夜裏尋蛙成為了難忘又具啟發性的一次經歷。最後，感謝Nicole、Kestrel、Laggay、呀花、Ken、Alphonse和Calvin為此次活動提供導賞及照片!
Night Safari in Tai Po Kau were held successfully on 6 and 15 July. We thank all the participants from CCC Ming Yin College and other schools for participating this event! We hope that it is an unforgettable and inspiring experience to you. Lastly, thank you Nicole, Kestrel, Laggay, Ar Fa, Ken, Alphonse and Calvin for being our demonstrators and providing photos!

Search for Butterflies
天公造美，參加者在導賞員的帶領下學習了不少有關蝴蝶的知識。ELSS再次感謝各位同學的參與，以及 Tommy 、Kimchi 和 Hugo 為尋尋蝶提供導賞和照片!
Under nice weather, participants learnt more about butterflies with the help from demonstrators. Once again, ELSS thanks every one for participating and Tommy Hui, Kimchi Lo and Hugo To for being our demonstrators and providing photos!
綠息系列 - 綠色生活體驗日
Green Series - Green Living Experience Day
由ELSS、HKU Sustainability、自然脈絡 Natural Network 合辦的綠色生活體驗日，已於上星期順利舉行。透過體驗農務、零廢購物及柴火煮食等，同學們學習了如何實踐綠色生活，亦從野人和呀King 的分享中得到更多啟發。感謝野人、呀King及名位同學的參與! 希望大家也能活出自己的綠色生活!
Green Living Experience Day co-organised by ELSS, HKU Sustainability Office, Natutal Network has successfully held last week! Through farm work, zero-waste shopping, setting a fire for cooking and more, participants learnt how to live greener. They also got some inspirations from Yeah Man’s and King’s sharing. We thank Yeahman, King and all participants for joining this event. Hope everyone would live greener!
綠息系列 - 玻璃回收體驗日x 玻璃彩繪工作坊
Green Series - Glass Recycling Experience Day x Glass Painting
由ELSS、 HKU Sustainability以及 「玻璃再生璀璨」Green Glass Green項目合辦的玻璃回收體驗日x 玻璃彩繪工作坊，已於7月30日成功舉行。參加者於活動當天體驗了玻璃回收，並利用回收得來的玻璃樽嘗試了玻璃彩繪。感謝April的帶領及名位同學的參與!
Glass Recycling Experience Day x Glass Painting Workshop co-organized by ELSS, HKU Sustainability Office and Green Glass Green Project was held successfully on 30 July. On that day,participants experienced glass recycling and used the glass bottles collected to try glass painting. Once again, we thank April guiding and participants joining this event!

Orientation Series 2016 Orientation Camp
新一年的迎新營已完滿結束! 三日兩夜的迎新營包括海星灣考察活動、夜行尋找兩爬及Natural Selection等活動，這些環節讓新生們盡情玩樂之餘，同時對生態學及生物多樣性有更深認識，而且認識了一班新朋友! 最後，ELSS感謝各位參加者、OC、組爸組媽、 Hui Tin Yan 及 Kevin Ho 的參與及幫助!
This year’s Orientation Camp has ended successfully! Through field trip at Starfish Bay, night walk, Natural Selection and more, freahmen learnt about Ecology & Biodiversity while they were playing. Also, they have met new friends! Lastly, ELSS thanks every freshmen, organizing committee, Hui Tin Yan and Kevin Ho for participating and helping!

綠息系列 - 真。過期挑戰
Green Series - The Expired Challenge
透過真。過期挑戰，不少同學消除了對過期食物的誤解，甚至加深對浪費食物問題的了解。在此再次感謝與ELSS合辦此活動的 HKU Sustainability Office及GreenPrice的幫忙!
Through The Expired Challenge, many students cleared their misunderstandings on expired food and learnt more about food waste problem. Once again, Thank you HKU Sustainability Office and GreenPrice, the co-organizers of this event, for their help!

Snorkeling in Hoi Ha was held successfully. We hope that participants enjoy the trip and also learn more about the biodiversity of Hoi Ha Wan and Hong Kong. We thank all participants for participating in this event. Last but not least, thank you Lily Lam, Michelle Luk and Loby Hau for being our demonstrators and also Ray So for taking photos!
綠息系列 - 舊衣再生工作坊
Green Series - Old Clothes Upcycling Workshop
由ELSS及 HKU Sustainability 合辦的綠息系列最後一彈——舊衣再生工作坊，已於剛過去的星期一順利舉行! 本會很榮幸能邀請到 St. James' Settlement - Green Ladies 的Petty與Carly為參加者作了有關fashion waste及Green Ladies的分享。透過工作坊，參加者們也利用了自己的舊衣學習upcycling，將它們變成了袋和頭巾。最後，再次感謝Petty和Carly的幫忙以及各位同學的參與!
Old Clothes Upcycling Workshop coorganized by ELSS and HKU Sustainability Office was held successfully on last Monday! It was our pleasure that Petty and Carly from Green Ladies gave a sharing on fashion waste and Green Ladies. Through this workshop, participants made use of their old clothes to upcycle them into bags and headbands. Once again, we thank Petty and Carly for their help and participants for joining our workshop!

Career Talk
於10月27日舉行的就業講座，本會有幸邀請到馬嘉慧女士(漁農自然護理署濕地公園經理/展覽)、梁恩銘先生(世界自然基金會香港分會教育總監)以及温柏豪先生(生態研究聯盟創辦人)與就讀生態學及生物多樣性的同學們分享就業資訊和他們的經驗。透過他們生動 有趣同時實用的分享，同學們都對畢業後的出路多了點認識及了解。最後，再次感謝三位嘉賓抽空出席以及各位同學的參與!
In the Career Talk on 27 October, it was our pleasure to have Ms Carrie Ma (Wetland Park Manager/ Exhibition, AFCD), Mr. Yamme Leung (Director, Education, WWF-Hong Kong) and Mr. Jay Wan (Director, Coalition for Research on Ecology and Wildlife) to be our guest speakers. They shared their experience to Ecology & Biodiversity students, and students knew more about the career prospect of studying this Major/Minor. Once again, we thank Carrie, Yamme and Jay for their sharing and all of you who attend this talk!

一年一度的Photo-taking Day將於11月10號日(星期四)舉行！我㥃誠意邀請一眾學生、研究生、舊生、教職員與生物科學學院職員一同於中山階聚首一堂拍照留念。當天的建議衣著是最新的soc tee，而大合照將於13:15-13:30進行，下星期見!
The Society Photo-taking Day 2016 will be held on 10 November (Thu). We cordially invite members of ELSS including undergraduates, postgraduates, alumni, teaching staff and School of Biological Sciences staff to join us in this meaningful event. The new society tee will be the dress code on that day and group photo session will be at 13:15-13:30. See you next week!
