Corrosion in pipelines can have serious consequences

The cost of cleaning up the oil spill that has fouled California beaches has reached $62 million so far, with costs running about $3 million per day. The spill occurred after an onshore pipeline ruptured, leaking up to 101,000 gallons of crude. Testing has found extensive corrosion along some sections of the pipeline. The potential for failure in pipelines must be identified and mitigated before it damages the environment, causes loss of wildlife, injures field operators and cleanup crews, and harms communities and livelihoods. Sentry ISOLOK SAA sampler accurately samples marine oil sludge ratios

Container ships move products from China to ports all over the globe. Sludges containing oil and water gradually build up on these large ships as a byproduct of engine lubrication and fuel oils. This oil sludge requires safe disposal in compliance with maritime environmental regulations. Sludge can be disposed of by incinerating it or disposing it to a barge or shore-based disposal facility, which can be expensive for the ship. But some countries allow sale of the oil sludge for conversion into a saleable product. To take a repeatable sample of oil-to-water ratio for analysis to arrive at a fair and verifiable payment, a quality Sentry automatic fixed volume sampler for liquid and slurry is needed. Read more here.

Ship oil & water sludge can be sold in some countries once a
representative sample is taken and analyzed to arrive at a price.

Customer application: Sampling of cement key to product quality, safety

To make cement, raw materials of limestone, fly ash, iron and sand are combined in proper proportions and then ground fine to be sent directly to rotary kilns after being mixed and dried. Inside the kilns, the materials are subjected to temperatures of 2,700°F, which causes them to combine chemically through a process known as calcining, which forms a new material, called clinker. Cement industry customers can sample product in many forms – liquid, slurry, powder, clinker, slag and finished cement – to ensure quality and safety. Typical sampling points include raw and finished product, load-out and custody transfer. Sentry samplers for liquid & slurry and solid & powder are ideal for cement industry customer needs. Read more here.

Protect power plant operators and water chemistry instruments from harm

Imagine this scenario: A power plant’s primary coolant pump loses power and is no longer providing coolant to the primary coolers. A steam sample in excess of 250°F continues to flow. In the chemistry lab, an operator works at a computer. A pipe hisses as the room begins to fill with dangerous steam. At the end of the sample tubes are costly analyzers about to be destroyed. The operator realizes what`s happening and hurries to shut down the sample lines. The analyzers suffer only minor damage. But, what about next time? A Sentry solution provides the protection and safety that every plant deserves. Read more here.

Mary Henszey makes a positive impact on Sentry Equipment Corp

When company founder Roy Henszey hired his son as a design and research engineer, little did he know he eventually would be getting two employees who would make a huge impact on the culture and direction of the company. Mary Henszey joined the company in 1973. She was responsible for corporate insurance and employee programs and benefits, and worked together with factory employees to develop the first safety program. Today, Sentry Equipment Corp is known for its benefits and outstanding and award-winning safety record. Read more here.

Mary Henszey's impact still can be felt today in the company's employee benefits, safety programs, and the Henszeys' legacy of company ownership transfer to an ESOP.
