First Coast News Recognizes BES for Both "Student of the Week" and "Teacher of the Week"

BES is so excited to share that First Coast News, the ABC and NBC affiliates for Jacksonville, recognized BES for both "Student of the Week" and the "Teacher of the Week" for this week. Watch the videos below of Lucca Martinez, second grade student, and Mrs. Camille Abrahams, BES Spanish teacher.

Fall Pottery Now Available for Bid

Our Fall Pottery auction kicks off this week! This year our bowls are decorated with a Halloween theme. You can access the bidding site at the link below from your computer or mobile phone. You can bid anywhere, anytime before the close of the auction. You will also receive an update if you are outbid! Here are the details:

Join us for the 2017 BES Boo Bash on Friday, October 27, 2017 from 12:00-3:00 p.m.!

Enjoy carnival and inflatable games, dunk tank, face painting, airbrush tattoos, and more!

General Admission Wristband includes:

  • Games
  • Activities
  • 2 slices of pizza, chips, dessert, and bottled water.

Order early and avoid long lines at check in on the day of the event!

Admission wristbands only need to be purchased for children.

All children MUST have an adult present to participate in the event.

Extended Day is available for those families not able to participate.

Bring a Friend to the Boo Bash!
Do you have friends with children in grades PK3-6th grade that would love to attend our Fall Festival? If so, we would love to host those families on Friday, October 27 from 12pm to 3pm. Register Now for "Around the World" Christmas Camp Coming at BES on December 18-22, 2017

For the first time ever, our school is offering a Christmas Camp on December 18-22, 2017 to all BES students! The theme this year is "Around the World!" Students will experience the unique Christmas customs from five different countries across the globe. Students will have a blast with cooking, music, games, arts, and crafts related to the "Around the World" theme.

Christmas Camp takes place from 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. each day ($200 for the week), and Extended Day is offered prior (8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.) and after (1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.) at a per day cost (see the registration form below for details). Those staying for Extended Day in the afternoon should bring a sack lunch from home each day.

Parents may opt to either bill their FACTS account or pay by check (made payable to "BES" with "Christmas Camp" in the memo field).

New Courtyard Canteen to Offer Snacks to BES Students

BES is pleased to announce that we will begin a new “Courtyard Canteen” in McCormick Hall every Thursday (starting October 26th) during morning snack time. Students will have the opportunity to purchase nutritious snacks like Electrolyte Pops, Gatorade, White Cheddar Popcorn, Veggie Straws, Fruit Strips, and more! All items will be $1. We hope our students (and parents) will love this additional snack option on Thursdays!

Save the Date: Sixth Grade Spaghetti Dinner on Thursday, November 16th

Come support BES and our sixth grade class as they serve and entertain you at the annual Sixth Grade Spaghetti Dinner on Thursday, November 16th! Proceeds raised go to the sixth grade graduation gift to the school.

Athletics Update

Basketball News
Our JV Basketball team has been playing well together.  They are currently 3-1, and their one loss is from a double overtime game.  Last week, our Girls team lost by one basket. They had a great, competitive game against San Jose, and they are making tremendous progress in their skill and teamwork. We are so proud of these players!

Varsity and the Girls team compete against St. Mark’s this week. 

Next week's basketball schedule:

  • JV 10/23 at St. Mark’s 6pm
  • Varsity 10/24 vs RPDS  (at Ortega Methodist) 6pm
  • Girls 10/26 at JCDS 5pm, Pink Out Game
