Get involved in the city's newest citywide fashion event

Mark your calendar, Adelaide's newest fashion event is set to take over the city from 6 – 9 October 2022. Expressions of interest are now open to be involved in the event. Whether it be by hosting an event, becoming a partner, providing an in-store offer, or facilitating a unique retail experience shoppers cannot find online – the opportunities are aplenty. Submit your ideas by Friday 2 September to secure a listing in the printed or digital event program.

Why more people are chasing the lifestyle dream in Adelaide

Convenience, culture and a great lifestyle are among the reasons buyers from all over Australia are investing in Adelaide. New data showed that 91 per cent of New South Wales-based buyers had searched for properties in Adelaide over the past year. Victorians were no slouches either — they completed 28 per cent more searches for SA property, second only to WA. What is it about Adelaide that has people wanting a slice?

Promote events and business

Learn how to list your business or event on consumer websites such as ExperienceAdelaide.com.au and southaustralia.com at a workshop this month. AEDA has partnered with the South Australian Tourism Commission to host an ATDW Information Session Webinar on Monday 22 August 2022 at 3:30 pm to show you how.

Mental health support

Beyond Blue has developed a mental health support service for small business owners called New Access. It is a free, confidential program to ensure owners are in a positive headspace. There are six sessions that provide practical skills — such as how to manage stress — that are facilitated over photo or video call.

AEDA and Business SA program helped my team's wellbeing

Dea Tirimacco and Vicki Yeates opened their business — Orenda Hair — on Ebenezer Place after realising a shared passion for a fun, environmentally conscious and unpretentious salon. The duo turned to Business SA’s Reignite Your Business growth consulting, which was run in conjunction with AEDA and City of Adelaide, for further support. The program helped them tap into wellness and how it helps employees.

Grants and opportunities 

To ensure Adelaide continues to be a progressive, vibrant and liveable city, AEDA offers a range of grants and opportunities to eligible applicants and organisations. There are a number of grants on offer, including up to $300,000 as part of the Strategic Partnerships Program to help grow the city's economy.

A Shopfront Improvement Grant helped my business

eleven co-owner Themis Chryssidis was able to give his Waymouth Street bar and restaurant some TLC with a little help from AEDA. Themis secured a Shopfront Improvement Grant that allowed him to install outdoor blinds, offering a new dining experience for customers. He shares how the grant has impacted his modern Australian, French-inspired restaurant. Applications for the Citywide Shopfront Improvement Grant program close on Monday 15 August 2022 at 4 pm.

It all started with... real film (and it's back, big time)

PhotoCo's co-owner Paul Bulley says that after a decade of digital dominance, film photography is booming again. About 15 years ago his shop, within the Adelaide Central Market, would process about 100 film rolls a day, seven years ago about 10 rolls and, now, he is back to 100.  The Market Square Redevelopment is underway but it’s business as usual for PhotoCo and the rest of Adelaide Central Market.
