We want you to join the conversation, take action and be part of the change. Europe in Action 2019 From 5 - 7 June, Europe in Action 2019 took place in Vilnius, Lithuania. It focused on our right to be independent and included in the community. More than 200 people gathered for the event co-hosted by Inclusion Europe and Viltus. Inclusion International's president shares our Call to Action with the United Nations On 11 June 2019, during the Opening Ceremony at the 12th Conference of State Parties in New York, our President, Sue Swenson, shared a demand from our members throughout the world who have raised the deinstitutionalization of people with intellectual disabilities as one of their advocacy priorities. 12th Conference of State Parties Our network has over 30 representatives from 12 different countries in New York this week for the 12th Conference of State Parties. They are all working to make sure our issues our heard! We hope you will join us at our side-events. Call for Innovative Practices in Education The Zero Project has opened a call for the nominations for Zero Project 2020. They are seeking nominations for Innovative Policies and Innovative Practices that help improve the lives of persons with disabilities in the field of Education before 14th June. Inclusion Works! Employment Workshop Bangladesh From 21 - 23 May 2019, we visited Dhaka, Bangladesh to talk to self-advocates and their families about barriers to employment for people with intellectual disabilities in Bangladesh. Over 60 participants joined the consultation, including 26 self-advocates. The Argentinian Disability Summit Elena Dal Bó, our Regional Representative for the Americas and representatives from Plena Inclusion (our member in Spain) and CONFE (our member in Mexico) were in Argentina last week at the Argentinian Disability Summit. Questionnaire on Good Practices on Access to Justice The Special Rapporteur on the rights of persons with disabilities, Ms. Catalina Devandas-Aguilar, is currently conducting research on good practices to ensure effective access to justice for persons with disabilities. |
