SHARK ATTACK!There has been a proliferation of shark attacks this year off the coast of North Carolina—which recorded only three attacks in 2018 and already has had three attacks this month alone. Some suggest global warming is pushing these predators of the sea beyond their familiar waters. Others say it’s the normal ebb and flow of human-meets-shark episodes. But one story being told and retold is of 17-year-old Paige Winter, who with her family on June 2 was frolicking in the waters of Atlantic Beach, North Carolina. Read more
Don't Miss Friday Evening Agape Feast and Concert! Our memorable June 28 (Friday, 7 PM) Agape Feast/Lord’s Supper celebration just became even more rememberable. Thanks to our partnership with the Andrews University Music Department, an international cohort of worship and music leaders will join us in the hollowed-out still-very-much-under-construction Pioneer sanctuary next Friday evening—not only to provide music for our celebration of the cross through both Feast and Supper—but also to bring to us a sacred concert that will follow in the Howard Performing Arts Center. And everyone is invited! What a metamorphosis! Because what began as plans for an outdoor communion celebration has transformed (thanks to prevailing mosquitoes and uncertain weather) into an evening of fruit, nuts and crackers (Agape Feast) at the foot of the cross (Lord’s Supper)—and now to be followed by the inspiration of song and singing at the HPAC. So come in informal dress, bring your family of all ages and friends alike—and enjoy a blessed summer’s evening in the cool of our Pioneer sanctuary (lighted up by nature and refreshed through the koinonia of Family)—and then in the grandeur of the HPAC performance hall. An evening to remember—with each other—and with Jesus. “Do this in remembrance of me.”
