GOW-GATES CLUB DEVELOPMENT GRANT PROGRAM

Equestrian Australia has announced the return of the Club Development Grant Program, this year with a sole focus on safety and risk management. EWA affiliated clubs can now apply for up to $3,000 of funding to improve safety standards. Applications close 27 April. MORE

DJTF is proud to host an EA Young Dressage Horse Seminar with International Young Horse and 4* Judge, Ricky MacMillan (QLD). Ricky will be covering the requirements and marking system for 4, 5 and 6 year old horses.

Ricky has been a National Judge for over 35 years and has judged in over 20 countries since becoming an FEI judge in 2008. She is active both in Australia and internationally as a judge educator. Ricky is also a dual Olympian and WEG competitor, competing at Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004, and has over 30 wins at International Grand Prix level including 5 Pacific League World Cup Finals and a CDI-W win in Nunspeet, Holland.

We encourage everyone interested in the training and preparation of young dressage horses to attend this seminar. Judges, riders and coaches are all important for the development of our dressage stars of the future.

EVENTING - NEWS

VALLEY EQUINE VETERINARY CENTRE

The WA Eventing Committee would like to thank Warwick Vale and the team at Valley Equine Veterinary Centre for their continued support of our state's eventing community.

Valley Equine Veterinary Centre provides $2500 each year to Eventing WA, plus veterinary attendance at one WA FEI CIC/CCI event in an FEI Veterinary Delegate Capacity, and two annual veterinary lectures to WA Eventing Squad Members.

They also sponsor the FEI Young Eventing Rider of the Year Award, which aims to foster the young eventing rider into FEI competitions. The award includes a prize for the most outstanding and successful horse/rider combination of the year and allows for some financial assistance for further training and education for that combination during the following year.

LOCAL SPORTING CHAMPIONS GRANTS

Round 1 of the Local Sporting Champions (LSC) program is now open to 12 to 18 Year olds involved in competing, coaching or officiating at state, national and international sporting competition. Grants of $500 are available to successful applications to cover travel/accommodation/uniform or equipment. Round 1 applications close 30 June. MORE

2018 WA INTERSCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIPS QUALIFICATIONS

The 2018 WA Interschool Championships qualification period is now in effect as of 9 March 2017 ending 13 March 2018. 

Please note that the qualifying requirements have changed for next year's event. Download the 2018 Qualifying Guidelines for more information.

We strongly encourage riders to get their qualifications during this year rather than trying to fit them in before entries close.


JUMPING - NEWS

MODERN PENTATHALON WA STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Modern Pentathlon Western Australia is bringing you a great opportunity to experience Show Jumping the Modern Pentathlon way with their upcoming WA State Championships on the 6th and 7th of May. Come along and see what Australia had to do to win Gold in this sport at Rio!

Show Jumping heights are 65cms, 80cms, 90cms, 1.00m, 1.10m and 1.20m. There is also a Tetrathlon event (Horse) without Fencing and there are events to suit all ages and levels. Even if you are not a very good swimmer or runner, there are separate awards for the Fencing and Shooting components.

Sponsored by Brookleigh Cross-country and co-hosted by Swan Valley Horse and Pony Club, MPAWA and UWA Fencing Club.

Come along and support the sports of Show Jumping, Tetrathlon and Modern Pentathlon WA. There are Interstate Modern Pentathletes competing in the Tetrathlon and Modern Pentathlon sections, so let's show them a great event with good competition.

POOL HORSE REQUIRED FOR MODERN PENTATHLON

The organising committee of the Modern Pentathalon WA State Championships are seeking one 1.20m Pool Horse for an Interstate rider. Video of her riding a 1.20m course is available if needed and she is a Pony Club and EVIC member (all Modern Pentathletes have to have verification of Show Jumping competency for the height they ride).

$200 cash paid for use of Pool Horse plus owner does a round first, then the Pentathlete. If you have a suitable horse please contact Charis at Charis.Neumann@watercorporation.com.au.

Please note that under the current EA National Show Horse Rules an age restriction applies to riders on ponies 12hh and under. There is no rider weight restriction rule for riders on ponies 12hh and under.

SOUTHERN CROSS CVI WRAP

A highly successful edition of the Southern Cross CVI was staged last weekend in the indoor arena of K Ranch at Mount Hunter, NSW. Congratulations to WA member Kieran Halliday on achieving a qualifying score for the Junior World Championships, to be held later on this year in Austria, and for becoming WA's first 2* vaulter.
