Our last seminar at JurAvon was kindly sponsored to the tune of $1000.00 by the Western Victorian Dressage Club. We are extremely grateful to the Western Victorian Dressage Club for this financial input as it allowed us to fly Maria Schwennesen down from Queensland to conduct the seminar. Ongoing support from our Dressage Clubs is essential to help maintain our ability run educational seminars and workshops with a range of judge educators from Victoria and interstate. We have a calendar of seminar dates on the EV judge website plus other interesting information that people can access via this web link. http://www.vic.equestrian.org.au/dr-judges . It would be great if riders and coaches could attend some of these seminars or workshops to give their input and perspective and to be part of the overall education process for judges. We have an H level seminar scheduled for April 26th at Juravon Park in Melton and an E & F seminar on May 2nd also at Juravon Park. There will be a para judge clinic on May 3rd at Balmoral Equestrian Centre. Dressage Geelong is conducting a workshop with Mary Seefried and Susie Hoevenaars on May 31st. It will be a great opportunity for riders’, judges and coaches to participate with 2 knowledgeable presenters.
Don’t forget the Young Horse Seminar at Dressage & Jumping with the Stars is on Sunday the 29th March. Those judges wishing to reaccredit or those judges wishing to use this seminar as an accreditation this is your last chance for a Young Horse seminar. Also the usual work shop with Ulf Muller is open to all, the cost is $50.
The workshop starts at 9a.m. the accreditation for the YH seminar begins at 8.30 for the signing in the door will be open from 8a.m. The DJEP would like to take this opportunity to thank the D&JWTS committee for their support in facilitating this Young Horse Seminar at D&JWTS

Interschools

Equestrian Victoria Interschool State Championships

Equestrian Victoria Interschool State Championships will be held at Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre from Monday 30th June to Friday 4th July 2015 during the school holidays.  This event last year attracted 481 riders who brought along 614 horses and competed in 1,512 classes, with 172 schools being represented.  Events include Show Horse, Dressage, Combined Training, Show Jumping and Games and Handymount.  Interschool Eventing classes are run in conjunction with other Official Classes.

Whilst many riders have goals to qualify to represent Victoria at the Australian Championships that will be held in Sydney in September, others may be new to equestrian sport and competition, all however come with the objective to have fun and represent their school at the Victorian State Championships.   Some schools have large equestrian teams but there are many solo riders also representing their school as well.  You do not need to qualify to attend the State Championships, everyone is welcome.

The event schedule will be available the end of March with entries closing in mid May.  If you would like more information Enquiries to:  Karen Amore interschools@equestrianvictoria.com.au   9908 3703

Show Jumping

Judges Clinic

A big thank you to Anne Garner for her help in running the Judges Update and Promotion course held at Werribee last weekend.  We had two attendees sit the Level 1 exam, 8 update at varying levels, two sitting the Level 2 test and a Level 3.  Victoria is very lucky to have such a committed group of officials that do such a great job every show.  If you are interested in course building, it is planned to hold a Course Design Seminar on July 11th so look out for the flyer for that in the near future.  The next Judges clinic will be in December and forms are already up on the website for bookings.

Hygain Junior & Young Rider Squad

The coaches for the coming season of squad have been selected.  Gavin Chester will be the coach of the State Squad with Paul Williams, Adam Wootten and we welcome to the coaching panel Alex Rooney.  With this high quality group of coaches we will be sure to have a very successful squad program this year.  Applications close on March 15th so got yours in.  It is open to all junior and Young Rider members of EA.

Talent Identification Events for Young Horses.

This is a national initiative that sees 6,7, and 8 year old jumping horses compete to qualify for a final to be held at the Australian Showjumping Championships.  Each state holds two heats and the top six horses on the leaderboard represents the state at the Final.  This year the first of the Victorian heats will be the  NVSJC Country Championships in Shepparton with the results to be published next newsletter and the Euroa Champs held in September.  The placings at the final will determine the make up of the Young Horse squads the following season, so if you own or ride a young horse, be sure to go to the national website and get all the necessary information.

Congratulations to our Mark Hopkinson who was recently appointed to the Equestrian Australian Board.  With Gavin Chester as the National Representative for Victoria, Jess Barton as the National Riders Rep and now Mark on the Board, Jumping in Victoria has a voice at National to help formulate policies that promote jumping in the state which can only be to the good!

There will be a Senior, Young Rider and Junior Victorian team to compete at the South Australian State Championships.  By now you would have entered this show and if you are interested in being a part of these teams, you are welcome to contact Annie by emailing jumping@equestrianvictoria.com.au

Dressage

NCIS Australian Young Rider Dressage Championships

Equestrian Victoria will be hosting the NCIS Australian Young Rider Dressage Championships at Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre from 9 – 12 April 2015.   There will be competitions for all levels of riders from Preliminary level to FEI Small Tour.  An exciting aspect of the event will be the inclusion of international classes, the Ellanbrae Park CDI-Y and the Mary Hanna U25-CDI Grand Prix.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our young dressage riders and assist them in preparing for national level competition.  The committee is working very hard to make sure that all states are represented at the event.  For Victorian riders, it is a great opportunity to ride in an Australian Championships without the expense of interstate travel” said Chair of Dressage Victoria, Michael Bragge.

“We are also very pleased by the support of a wide range of sponsors including our naming rights sponsor NCIS (National Commercial Insurance Solutions). Our international classes are supported by Ellanbrae Park and Olympian Mary Hanna.”

As well as the Championship classes and higher level tests there will be a range of Jackpot tests for Preliminary, Novice and Elementary riders which have more relaxed entry criteria.  Riders also have the chance to ride the popular Freestyle tests across several levels and there will be a feature Pas de Deux test in costume.  Demonstrations and a Fashion Parade will also feature.

The CDI-Y class and the U25 Grand Prix will be judged by International judges, Monique Peutz from Holland together with two of Australia’s leading judges Jane Ventura (Vic) and Joanne Fowler (WA).

A vibrant trade village will add to the atmosphere and entry is free for spectators.  A gala dinner will be held ringside on the Saturday evening and a free welcome dinner is planned for the Friday night.
