Performing Arts Iceland, PAI, is the umbrella organization of all main players in Icelandic performing arts, institutions, free groups, arts academy, unions, festivals and others. PAI is a member of various networks and works to promote the work of Icelandic artists on the international scene.

ICEHOT HELSINKI 2012

Two Icelandic dance groups joined the ICEHOT showcase in Helsinki last December where the cremé de la cremé of the Nordic Dance scenery was at display. Check out stunning photos from Icehot Helsinki on Facebook

Cinars 2012

PAI worked with Nordic partners in the Nordics Combined project at Cinars, Montreal 2012.  A Joint Nordic booth, seminars, parties and mingles and 7 full productions were on stage as part of the Nordics Combined collaboration, amongst them the dance duo Steinunn and Brian and Helga Arnalds director of Ten finger theatre.  PAI interviewed Helga about her Cinar ´s experience. Nordic Drama Train - Next stop CPH

PAI launched the Nordic Drama Train in August, as part of the Nordic Performing Arts Days.  The Train continues - with five Nordic playwrights and their award winning work.  The Next stop is in Copenhagen, February 22nd - 24th 2013 at Husets Teater.  More on stage.is

Wilderness Dance

Wilderness dance, the largest ever recidency programme for dance in the Nordic/Baltic region, starts January 18th, with the arrival of the Latvian group The Swufus in Höfn í Hornafirði, Iceland.  10 companies were chosen for Wilderness in October 2012, out of 110 applications. Each company will stay and work in two Wilderness communities. At the end of the residency period, May 2014, a number of works will be chosen by Wilderness partners for further presentation.
