January 3-week Series

Level 1 (8:15pm - 9:15pm)
w/ Lori & Eliott
6-count Lindy Hop

Start dancing from day one! We will get you moving in this month-long series that introduces you to basic footwork, turns, wraps, breaks and jazzy stylin'. Covers the 6-count basics, also sometimes known as East Coast Swing, also used in Lindy Hop.

PRE-REQUISITES: None. No partner required; just bring your enthusiasm and comfortable clothes!

Level 2 (7:15pm - 8:15pm)
w/ Lori & Eliott
Classic Moves

Points, Jig Walks, and Mini-Dips? Swing is one of the most playful dances, and we'll explore some of the most entertaining classic swing figures. You'll have a chance to add in your own style and creativity to make these figures your own, so that they evolve with your dancing!

PRE-REQUISITES: Level 1A-C; twice through recommended. Execute a swingout, lindy circle, charleston and 6-count moves and transition between them in open and closed positions. No partner required, just bring your enthusiasm!

Level 3 (7:15pm - 8:15pm)
w/ Laura & James
Flow and Momentum

When everything feels right, leaders and followers feel comfortable playing off each other by directing and redirecting energy and momentum. In this class, we will help you explore this flow and share a few ways to incorporate it into your dancing.

PRE-REQUISITES: At least nine consecutive months of Level 1 and Level 2 including one full year of social dance, or discuss your eligibility with instructors. Under-qualified students will be asked to transfer to Level 2 in order to strengthen their fundamentals.

Elective (8:15pm - 9:15pm)
w/ Margot & Richard
Jam Steals

Learn to steal like Bonnie and Clyde! This month, Richard and Margot will show you some fun and flashy moves to break into your next steal jam -- burlap bag and stripey tee not required.

PRE-REQUISITES: This series is for intermediate level dancers and above; you'll need to be able to dance a variety of standard 6 & 8 count patterns in both Lindy and Charleston to get the most out of this class. No partner required, just bring your enthusiasm and comfortable clothes!

What could be better than to kick off a new year of WNHopping with Cling Baker’s New Orleans Jazz Band! This fabulous band, frequently touring all around the Bay Area and beyond, needs no introduction; come prepared to dance your socks off! Let’s make it an awesome year!

The Balboa room has been open for an hour on most nights, but what if you haven't had a chance to learn the dance yet? Or maybe you have, but it's been a while, and you need a refresher? While we will be having Balboa monthly series later in the year, in the meantime, we'll be offering drop-in classes once a month. The first one is next week; come and Bal!
