The tragedy and injustice of the murders of Daunte Wright and Adam Toledo by the police is weighing heavily on us and are devastating as we are still waiting for justice for the murder of George Floyd. SVP Minnesota (SVP) stands with the communities that have been unfairly targeted and with the organizations that are serving the youth of our communities. SVP is committed to racial equity and anti-racism to ensure that every young person’s future unfolds uncompromised by systemic injustice. The historic trauma built on centuries of institutional racism must be addressed and we must find ways to undo the racism built into every aspect of our society. SVP is prepared to be bold as we demand systemic change and support the organizations working on the very difficult issues of today, seeking innovative solutions and meeting the emerging needs of youth. Please join us in this work. Community Care Grant Awardees SVP recently completed a rapid grant process for our current Investee and recent alumni organizations to provide funding for community healing, community-care and self-care projects for their staff, youth and stakeholders. SVP Fellows Program We are delighted to welcome five new Partners through the SVP Fellows program. The SVP Fellows program is a three-year skills-based volunteer experience for community-minded professionals, leaders and social entrepreneurs who are Black, Indigenous and people of color. The goal of the program is to more intentionally center the diverse communities that we serve in our work. Fellows become full SVP Partners, experiencing the benefits of SVP Partnership through network expansion, leadership and philanthropic development, workshops and more. Together we engage in deep mutual learning. Minneapolis Foundation Microgrant SVP was named a recipient of The Minneapolis Foundation’s Fund for Safe Communities. This micro-grant is intended to create space for healing and safety among youth and adult community members during the Chauvin trial. SVP will use these funds to support our Anti-Racism cohort learning experience as well as host an Affinity Healing Circle for SVP’s BIPOC staff, Partners, Investees and external stakeholders. As part of our healing process, we will produce a collaborative art piece that we plan to install or share with a local youth group or school.
