Click here PNA HIGHLIGHTS & HAPPENINGSNot long ago a group of women from our Village program went on a journey. They discovered the intricate social life of trees along with the limitless contributions that trees make to humanity and the environment. Now, they're sharing their discoveries with the neighborhood through art, walks, songs, and more during our Tree Appreciation Series from Earth Day (April 22) to Arbor Day (April 29). "I want at least one person to come away from this week with the feeling of awe that I have felt as I have walked among the trees in my area; I want at least one person to realize that one is a powerful number when preserving what trees can offer us and do offer us." In 2021, more than one thousand volunteers gave over 28,000 hours to help us build and support the community. Our events happen because you show up with a smile. Our hot meals help anyone who needs them because you put your heart into every dish. Our elder neighbors are brought together and empowered at home because you receive, serve, and reach out to them with care. Every week is Volunteer Appreciation Week at the PNA, because we deeply appreciate each of you and all you do. Thank you! Did you know that our Tool Library is home to the King County Seed Library's northwest location? On Sat, April 16 our friends at the seed library held the Great Seattle Seed Swap, their first seed exchange since 2019. More than fifty people swapped and gave seeds to replenish the community seed library. Stop by the Tool Library on Fridays from 3 pm to 6 pm and Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm to swap seeds and bring new ones home! An intergenerational tree art project is taking root! PNA Village members recently worked with dyes, recycled material, sieves, and blenders to make paper leaves that students from our Phinney Neighborhood Preschool Co-op will paint. They also turned over 40 used paper bags into tree bark. PNPC teacher Wyly Astly will lead the construction of a large three-dimensional tree in our Blue Building that everyone can add a leaf to during our Tree Appreciation Series from April 22 to April 29. Let's grow a beautiful tree together! Featured EventsBallard Preschool Co-op Gently Used Kids' Gear Sale |
