Junior footballers Go for 2&5For the next two years Healthway will be the principal partner of junior football in Western Australia with the Go for 2&5 healthy eating message to be promoted to around 91,000 junior footballers and more than 48,000 community volunteers. Clubs will receive support from the WA School Canteen Association to review their canteen menu and improve healthy food and drink choices. Find out more. Fuelling healthier venuesMandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre has launched a new menu as part of the healthy cafe project funded by Healthway. Mandurah is the first WA local government recreation centre to take part in the WA School Canteen Association Fuel to Go & Play program, offering 43 per cent healthy green choices across the cafe menu. Pathway to sport and wellbeingSeventeen projects will receive $235,500 of funding in the latest round of Targeted Participation Program grants. The projects are helping to connect vulnerable groups with pathways to community sport and recreation, as well as provide a safe and healthy club environment for kids to hang out. The grants are a joint initiative between Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and Healthway. Find out more. The Public Health Advocacy Institute of Western Australia are currently working on a final draft that will be published on their website soon, and promoted as the consensus developed goals for the WA obesity sector. Their 'connecting health and technology study' paper is the winner of the most cited Web and Science Randomised Controlled Trial category, in the International Journal of Behavioural Nutrition and Physical Activity.
